IN-GAME XMB WITH PS1 GAMES!

Hands down my most wanted FW feature, this should have been available by default when we actually received in-game XMB whilst playing games. Sony may not know this or aware of it but a lot of people use PS3's to play PS1 games and it feels so restrictive when you can't access the XMB. I don't press the pause button I press the PS button when I need to relax whilst gaming, not being able to do so(look at the XMB) with PS1 games feels being trapped in a box! I know it's silly and most people can do without it, I thought so too but seeing as how I'm playing quite a lot of PS1 games I played in the past or missed out on I really need this feature. Hopefully Sony puts this in the top priority list, anyone agrees?

Is it me, or did SOny updated this feature a little. Cause i remember when playing PS1 games on PS3, i was signed out. But last week i bought and played Crash Team Racing and i was getting notified when ppl were signing in/out. I dont remember that doing my early days of PS1.

Well I think you could always see who was signing in and out it's just that you couldn't actually access the XMB to see the friends list etc.

Yeah that too, it works with Mubi but that service is sorely lacking. Forget the most wanted stuff like cross game chat Sony is half arsing with the most basic of features, in-game XMB.

PlayStation 1 titles, really? I think the reason why they haven't added such a feature is because playing a PS1 game on you PS3 isn't something you do a lot of the time, so it's not a feature that's requested much. If you're getting messages then either sign out or state in your comment box that you're playing a PS1 title.

Yes, it is the same with ps2 games.

It's not quite the same, playing a PS1 game doesn't sign you off the network while playing a PS2 title does.

well most of those games arent actual remakes, they're just the original games which u can play on your ps3 and psp...the remakes usually offer some extra's like hd, trophy support and all that...but it its just for that, why not use the pause button lol?

in any case, in general ive gotten really used to the xmb..on both ps3 and psp..goes well with the other sweet stuff like wireless usb controllers etc..

i just wish it was a little faster and more responsive, sometimes it takes too long to load it up or sync trophies, especially when compared to the 360, but the overall designis a big win and its much more user friendly to me than the 360, but i guess im just used to it...

Screw that. I want in game XMB for my PS2 games. I was playing MGS3 today and got like fifteen messages that I couldn't answer. Granted, I could solve this problem by signing off while playing PS2 games but what about games like SWBattleffront II that I play online?

I'm not sure if you're correct or not ill have to check later. But I also swear I was able to see the "receive message" icon when playing MGS3. Though I could be wrong.

I disagree. Play an old game the old way without an XMB. Give me custom soundtracks.

Try it again, it's been a while since I've had a BC PS3 but I'm almost 100% sure that it signs you out.

You stayed signed in or it atleast signs in when you go to play the online portion of a game although I'm sure it's the former. Star Wars Battlefront II is all I played the first year I owned my PS3 because the lack of games in the PS3's library.

It's weird how we haven't gotten anything in the last bunch of firmware releases, let alone the 3 things mentioned. I always have had patience with them but there's so much waiting.

Of course we have, otherwise they wouldn't of wasted their time releasing them. Just because a firmware doesn't add a feature people want doesn't mean it's not useful. Plenty of features are added behind the scenes, like reducing the footprint of the XMB, or reducing the time it takes to download an update.

Cross game chat is way more useful... honestly, I used to be one of the nay-sayers, but when I got a 360, I saw the light. I used to really not care, but now that I have the option, there is no excuse for Sony not having it on the PS3 yet.

Custom Soundtracks FTW.

Nothing quite like going on a online killing spree while singing along Burt Bacharach.

I agree with...
To Hell with Cross-game chat and custom soundtrackSwift_Boss_A
I've been playing FIFA11 with custom sound track and it feels weird, i don't wanna listen to my music, i wanna listen to what the devs put there, anything else just seems off IMO But i wouldn't put this...
IN-GAME XMB WITH PS1 GAMES!Swift_Boss_A
On my top most wanted features :P It's weird tough, i mean, there's gotta be enough processing power left to have the XMB when you are playing PS1 games, unless the PS3's still have the PS1 CPU&GPU and while you playing those the Cell&RSX get "turned off". Anyway, what i wanted the most was some nvidia drivers update for the RSX, nvidia always boost the GPUs power with drivers, i saw that on my 8600, i always thought the PS3 would have one of those, totally doable IMO.

Well it makes sense for it to keep you signed in if you're playing online, but any other game that's single player will sign you off.

I'd like the ability to have two profiles signed in at once. I usually do co-op with my brother and now we can't because it'll sign us in as a guest. I thought Sony was supposed to patch that?

I recently downloaded ff8 off psn store, I was fighting that spider machine on the training mission (close to the start) and pressed the ps button thinking it would pause, I was wrong and came back to the game to see a "game over" screen, was gutted it didnt auto pause the game lol.
