[QUOTE="Javieralijandro"][QUOTE="multiplat"]then howcome 360 games on the box are willing to advertise 1080p but not so much for ps3 games (Resistance 2, pacific rift, etc...they all say 720p only),,,but even a game like saints row 2 on 360, the box has the balls to say 1080p

just because it says 1080 doesnt mean it runs on it. Example COd4 runs at 600p (console verison only) GTa 4 runs on 640p (ps3 verison only) Ninja gaiden 2 (runs at 576p xbox verison) MGS4 (runs at 576p) Haze (576p) The only games that i know of that run at 1080 are Wipeout HD Noby NOby boy And that new noby noby boy but its named something elseUh, what are you talking about? And how would you even be able to find out the actual resolution, when the only video modes that the ps3 and 360 both allow you to select from are 480(i/p)/720p/1080(i/p) ? My other gripe WRT the ps3 is the fact that it won't let me use 1080p unless the box explicitly says so; at least on the 360, forcing it to output even on games that didn't explicitly say so is no problem.Question: Do you have ANY concept of how upscaling works? I'm a graphic designer, so let me explain.
Images from the web are typically only 72 ppi (pixels per inch). Optimal printing resolution is 300 ppi. Now, lets say you have an image you really from the web, but it's NOT 300 ppi. What to do? So you decide to open it in Photoshop, go to the Image Size dialog box and change the native resolution from 72 ppi to 300 ppi. What happens? Well, the picture gets a lot bigger, reflecting its new resolution. But what's this? The image, while larger, is now blurry. Details more easily seen before have been lost.
Microsoft, much like every other major corporation in the world, has you riding on the hype machine (Sony and Nintendo are not exempt from this either). Sure, I can OFFER you full 1080p...but are you actually GETTING it? The only platform right now that can claim to consistently offer full HD in EVERY game is the PC because it actually re-renders in-game screens rather than just stretching what's already there. This requires large amounts of RAM and processing power (that of which today's consoles are not up to snuff with yet).
Look around. You can find more than a few sites that list actually NATIVE resolutions of games (as my fellow GameSpotters have so eloquently mentioned above). For what it's worth, I'll take Sony's honest over forced upscaling. If I wanted to play upscaled games, I'll just play PS2 games.
