LMAO @ the term, anime graphics. So I guess Zelda: Windwaker was an anime game right? :roll:WR_PlatinumHmm, why not?
I like the style. It's a hell of a lot better than grey, boring photorealism. Give me graphics like in Prince Of Persia and Valkyria Chronicles over those in GTAIV or COD4 any day. The way those games look is just beautiful. Silent-Hal
i like it both ways some guys just are suited for anime/cartonnish graphics others are suited for photorealism graphics
:?
other than PoP all those games are based off those styles.
unless you'd rather have a realistic looking DBZ. and we all know how awkward that would be...

^Agree, Valkyria was well suited for anime like graphics since it was an anime like tale, Uncharted was an indiana jones like adventure and was perfect for realistic graphics. It depends on the game. The only complain I have with SF IV graphics is Ryu's face, he looks weird, also the new characters have odd designs

Uncharted did look gorgeus, but it's look wasn't entirely realistic. Some parts of the game were heavily stylised, especially the character models. I guess you've got to get a decent balance between art and realism, though like you said, some games just fit better with one style than with another.Anyone noticed how many games are getting anime graphics? Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, Prince of Persia, Street Fighter IV and Afroninja, what's up with that?HarshGamerYou... like it gray? Joking aside, art like anime is not a bad thing. Period.
I think TC is just mad that Prince of Persia looked like the way it did. That game still looks realistic, kinda though, its a weird game.ZidaneskiNo, i like it a lot, the others i've mentioned too. I've not said anything bad about the graphics, all i'm saying is, more and more games are designing their games with these kind of graphics.

Anime graphics are basically reserved for Japanese titles. Plenty of games are Japanese, and many of them you'll find have that anime look and its been happenin since the SNES era...even before.
Thing I don't like is when too many Western developers start trying to mimic this art stile hey everyone has a right to use it...but my Sims? C'mon.
Games that have a kinda have a cartony feel to them but at the same time look realistic - like farcry1 or bioshock are probalby what you'd call stylised...either way they're not anime.
Also yeah, stile is spelt wrong...seems gamespot thinks the proper spelling is the s-word. :D

Even if they are, there's no problem with that.
Cel-shading is new and adventerous.
Photorealism is boring and so 5 minutes ago.
A couple of things TC. 1) It's called cell-shading graphics(but now should know that by now from the comments). 2) With the exception of PoP, Afro SAMURAI(not ninja) and Naruto have "anime graphics" because they're games based on the anime shows they come from. Prince of Persia had a more fantasy look to it than it did with regular graphics(and now they're GORGOUS:P). 3) There has been an uprise in cell shading but its not even close to the point where there's too many of them. Like I said, some of the games you listed either A)Needed cel-shading to stay true to the series or B) Wanted to give a different look for it and differentiate itself from other titles. There will be games that use cel-shading but they will also take advantage of the next gen(or current gen) hardware it's placed on(like Ultimate Ninja Storm).
P.S. Street Fighter tried to look more realistic. Here's the results: http://psx.ign.com/objects/005/005886.html Do you really want the game to look more realistic?
