I've been waiting to get a good fighting game for so long, and now that I finally have a ps3, i'm not sure what I should buy? VF5 and Tekken 5 DR both look good, but i'm leaning toward VF 5. My favorite fighting series is Soul Calibur, but i'd like to give VF or Tekken a try. So any suggestions or comments?

I would go with Tekken, I traded in VF5 after a day. Plus Tekken 5: DR will have an online option soon.

Tekken.

$20 now for a great fighter. $10 later for the online upgrade as well as other extras.

$30 total for an amazing fighter with online play.

Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 have been highly regarded as the "deepest" 3D fighting games. But I always had a lot more fun playing the Tekken series over the years. I enjoy both Tekken and the Soul Calibur series more. Those are my two favorite 3D Fighting game series and they both happen to be from the same company. Also, as someone already mentioned, the addition of online playfor T5DR should be a huge bonus in replay value compared to VF5 which doesn't have online play.

There's no arcades around where I live anymore so online play is the next best way to find great competition in the world of Tekken. And T5DR is also cheaper than VF5 and has nearly twice as many characters. VF5 has better graphics and very deep gameplay, but unless you have several friends near by that can give you good competition, its just not worth getting imo because single player gets old real fast.

Just get Tekken, it's a whole lot more 'accessible' as a game than Virtua Fighter is.

I would say both are good. Each game has its bad side to it. People may not like Tekken, but it is still one of the many fighters that many enjoy. But maybe once you see these new gamplay screenshots of Soul Calibur 4 then you might change your mind. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying Soul Calibur is better than Tekken and VF. I played those games all my life and Soul Calibur have always been my least favorite, but when I saw this screens I was like "This game is going to be crazy!!! Look at the graphics!!!"

The TC already mentioned that Soul Calibur is his favorite fighting game series so he will probably get Soul Calibur 4. But SC4 doesn't come out until sometime in 2008. He probably wants a great fighting game to play right now on his PS3 to keep him busy. Personally, I already have T5DR and im looking forward to the online upgrade which should keep me busy until both Soul Calibur 4 and Tekken 6 come out.

Tekken is the best. And for Soul Calibur, dont forget that game was originaly a spin off of the Tekken series form the fact they pick a character form this series to include it in SC. (Yoshimitsu)

Tekken was always the #1 fighting game project from Namco and Soul Calibur is a good game too, but its a lot more simplistic then Tekken. Sure VF is more deepest, but less fun then Tekken plus the ps3 version of VF4 is like Tekken DR in terms of mode, they are no real mode or story in VF5 so for the price it cost, Tekken is the best value right now, plus it will have online soon.

TK5DR had bad-arse graphics with an HDTV. I almost felt like I was playing TK6. Well, I would prefer TK5DR than VT5.

Which one is going to have online? That is the only thing I need to know to make my decision, and it just so happens that VF5 isn't but Tekken 5 will be so..............:?

Tekken 5:DR running on 1080p is awesome. As for gameplay, I've never played Virtua Fighter, been a Tekken player since Tekken 2. I just like their characters and its got a crazy story. *Heihachi throws his kid Kazuya into a cliff, then Kazuya throws his unconscious father off the same cliff many years later, then Heihachi throws Kazuya into a Volcano, then Heihachi Launches Jin, Jinpachi, and Kazuya into space lOL HeihachOWND!)
