Just read the article and express your opinion on it... I'm still not sure if I like the whole download everything deal because I still enjoy owning a physical copy of what I am buying...

The guy's just highlighting everything Sony hasn't done well, while minimizing everything they have done well. The whole point of the article seems to be to make the author sound clever.

Of course he's talking about what the PS3 isn't doing right, that's the whole point of the piece……constructive criticism. Sony's sitting 3rd in the "console wars" so it's on them to make changes that a) enhance the experience for current owners and b) stop people from buying 360s. This article is simply suggesting what moves Sony can make.

All this is, is an opinion. An opinion I agree with.

I don't really think the article qualifies as "constructive" criticism when the guy makes statements like:

Look, if Sony hammered out $300 Slims back in 2006, they would've taken a bite out of the Wii's market share, never mind the 360.

Yeah, that's just brilliant advice. Produce a product which wasn't possible with the technology available in 2006, and sell it at a price that would make Sony bankrupt. They lost over a billion dollars selling it for $500. The author sounds like some dope who doesn't even bother to put any thought into what he's saying. Like "Gee, if I could just run a company in a make-believe world where the complexities of reality didn't exist, I'd be hailed as a genius".

Constructive criticism is and always should be backed with the proper credentials. Throwing out opinion statements, instead of quoting an economist or a successful business man or women within the electronics industry is irresponsible. For granted Sony obviously has made mistakes because their sales are behind that of their competitors, but this article is poorly written and doesn't adequately prove anything.
