I see a lot of topics about trophies and how to get this trophy or that trophy. What is it that makes people so interested in wanting a trophy for a game? Isnt the idea of video gaming just to have fun, why do you need a trophy for playing a campaign mode game? It is different if you are playing online to me. I dont see anything wrong with being interested in the trophies but I just personally can't get interested in it.

It adds replay value to a game.

Also, there is a sense of achievement when getting certain trophies. Personally, I don't replay games just for trophies but some do!

Because I want the best.... I think im OCD or something. I bought a 60GB, Have pretty much everything thats labeled "Sony" brand; I had a Samsung 42" and Matching sorround sound, but saved up for a 52" Sony Bravia HDTV (52W4100) and bought a the matching Sorround Sound because it matched "Sony".

Trophies are nothing different, I play to Win. atleast most of the time...

I usually just play through the games first as I naturally would .... and then I look at the trophies after to see if I want to go after any of them. Sometimes they show something about the game that I wasn't aware of or encourage me to use different weapons or tactics in a a game. If the game is fun and has natural replayability along with good trophies .... then that's cool. It's just a little meta-game game within a game. That's probably good for people who can't buy a lot of games every year. They can really play the heck out of their games that they doown and explore every little nook and cranny of the game and push themselves.

i only go for trophies on games i like, and i only get games i know i will like, so for every game i get, i get 100% trophies.. i don't see the big deal.. dmc4 i did all the in game achievements, in gta games i always got 100% completion.. so trophies are just added playing time for me.. if you don't like them then don't go for them..

I didn't really care about trophies until I got my first platinum.

It gives an incredible sense of achievement and now i'm aiming for a second!

I think the idea behind trophies are cool, dont get me wrong but it just seems that some people are more interested in getting a trophey and getting recognized than enjoying the game.

It's fun to me. After you complete a very hard level on a game or complete all the story missions or whatever, instead of getting nothing you can get a trophy. And like KapG said it adds replay value to a game.

That's the problem, you're actually stealth judging people for liking Trophies. "Isn't the idea of video gaming just to have fun, why do you need a trophy for playing a campaign mode game?" By saying that, you're pretty much saying we don't have fun gaming. Problem is, we do, and trophy collecting just adds replay value, and more reason to play the game, and enjoy it longer than normal. There's absolutely -nothing- wrong with wanting to achieve a goal in a game, whether it's a personal one, or one set by a trophy requirement. There's so many people who play through games, while putting their own rules in to play, to make it more challenging and thus fun, for themselves. There's nothing wrong with it. It's like RE5, you can go ahead and earn every trophy on that after completing the game on the easiest difficulty, by just using Infinite Weapons, which makes everything so incredibly easy. Or, you can do it the normal way, which is much more challenging. But then, you can go one step further, and use non-upgraded weapons, or Knife only or what have you. It's for self-gratification, since unless you tell someone, nobody will know whether you did Infinite Weapon or otherwise. And in truth, if that's the way someone wants to play the game, good for them.

Good luck with Elite difficulty. I heard it makes grown men cry. :P On topic, they are fun to collect. I don't get why people get so confused by that. I still play games for fun but getting something extra is fun and some trophies are fun to try and set a goal for.
