what's the point of getting tophies in games is there ANY AT ALL or is it just a personal preference??????
This topic is locked from further discussion.
It motivates me to replay games and try things that I wouldnt ordinarily do. Some of them are a bit too obscure to bother trying with, but others just extend a game.
So, personal preference I guess :P
i wish there was a use, but alas there isn't.
Most games i CBA collecting them all because they require you to play online, and some games just suck at online mulitplayer... want to know where i stand on online mulitiplayer? Check my blogs people.
I don't care about bragging rights at all. It's kinda stupid imo.
I like them because I like collecting things and seeing that 100%. When I look at my friends' trophies, it's to see what they're playing and how far they're in the game. Not to see if they have more or less than I do.

Well me personally can't really get into them.I tried but I really can't do it.But people unlock them for the following reasons
- Bragging rights
- They use it as a tool to track progress
- They are completist
- They love to unlock things

I just like seeing that Platinum trophy when I get it. But no platinum trophy is like your first one.
Their extend the game and some are really kinda fun
like the one in COD:WAW where you can only melee the enemies in one entire level
also because of the cool sound they make:D

Ditto, my exact sentiment. I tried to unlock all the trophies in Uncharted, but it ceased being fun and just started to feel like work.
yeah i just like getting them, but i hardly change my actions or go out of my way to get them lol... there is another topic on this board about a guy who will not play games if hey have too much bronze trophies ex: he will not play bioshock cuz it has 60 bronze trophies and only 2 gold, thats really dumb... i think he took a handful of stupid pills or something bwwwwwaaaaaaaaah!
I'm kind of a perfectionist/completionist when it comes to gaming and these help me judge where I'm at. Also, while I replay most of my games a few times anyway, it gives me a feeling of accomplishment the second/third time through when I pick up a trophy for doing something a different way.
Overall, I think they're great. I don't understand why anyone would have an issue with them except on a game like Dead Space or Bioshock where it ruins the atmosphere a little bit to have it ding in the top right corner.
LOLI never would've played through Dead Space 3 times if there hadn't been any trophies.
Now I never want to play it again.STRETCH-E
It's a great motivation to replay games , and that's about it .what's the point of getting tophies in games is there ANY AT ALL or is it just a personal preference??????

Cause alot of the times it does feel like work, especially for those one that require you to do such and such so many times. Some trophies/Achievements can add great things to game. Not on the PS3, but in Crackdown and Dead rising the achievements were all fun to try and unlock. If game devs were to make all of them fun and not out of the way and annoying there would be no problems. I can't really stand ones like Kill X amount of people online or use a specific power X amount of times. That and with these new additions of trophies/achievements alot of people are starting to forget the actual game it's self. They are fun to get most of the time and they add some replay value to alot of games.
I dont buy games just for them though.
why cant u kill 10,000 enemies? its easy but will take time, maybe a few plays thru, the meaning of replay value i guessWith trophies I know I can unlock, I will. If it's one of those kill 10,000 enemies or something, then I won't even bother.

well i get trophies for myself.. if it was up to me i rather have in game awards that aren't shown to the public, but are in every single game.. i kind of like how uncharted did it, their unlockables and trophies were the same so you were getting bonus stuff for doing trophies.. same with genesis collection, i liked watching the videos about the games.. just wish all games did something like that.
I use them to monitor my progress. I usually do one casual playthrough and then go for 100% game completion. That's when trophies help.
I was kinda addicted to the trophies in the beginning, trying to get every single one but nowadays I don't care as much. I kinda used em to continue playing games that I got bored of for ex, I thought trophies in GTA would make me play the game over but it didn't so meh
