I'm all for it, I'm really suprised how much I've been getting to trophies but also how much more I've got out of some games because of it, Burnout especally I found a game like that being so open really frustrating to get into bit the trophies gave it a real structure.
Eh, I figured that Sony would make it mandatory seeing that some multi console owners will literally buy a game for the 360 soley because of acheivements, now it's an even playing field. Hell, people may buy the PS3 version to play catch up with trophies versus their Acheivement points.
It's good for people who like trophies like me. They add a huge replay value that wasn't there before now I go through games like 3-4 times. Right now I have 3 huge games with trophies that make my plate seem WAY too full and I doubt i'll get the platinum for all of them before KZ2 especially since I only play PS3 on weekends (due to school).
There is also that rumor that Sony is working on some reward system where the trophies you earned get you extra things, so that could be another reason why Sony is making them mandatory.
