hey everyone

i am looking at getting the Turtle Beach Earforce DPX21

http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/ps3-gaming-headsets/ear-force-dpx21.aspx

and i found them on amazon here

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-Universal-Headset-Surround/dp/B0042Y2F76/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1300810692&sr=8-1

and they are £125

but then i saw this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Force-PX21/dp/B002BU0DPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300810692&sr=8-1-spell

it is called PX21 instead of DPX21

but they look excactly the same? and they are only £60

but they do not say 7.1 surround sound which i want

can anyone clear this up, are they the same?

The DPX21 comes with the audio decoder. The decoder is great, the headphones have poor build quality.

You should have posted this in your other thread...

:)

... My personal feeling is that surround headphones aren't a must, a basic stereo field is all I need to zero in on shooter activity, but some folks swear by the 5.1, etc. It's up to you. I saved the cash and got a set without the surround. Neither school of thought is "correct", it's more just personal prefs and needs. I tried the surround version at a friend's house before making the call just to get the regular stereo field model...

Don't even bother with 5.1 or 7.1 on consoles 99% of games don't even support it.

In-laws gifted me the DPX21s last xmas. I think the sound quality is great (very slight/minimal hiss before game sounds start & no audible hiss during gaming sounds, ample & clear bass, realistic & natural mids, adequate highs- not tinny). The build quality of the headphones is good (not cheap & not exceptional- but good, long cords, everything needed is included).

I use the surround mode more than the stereo expander mode because it sounds better/more full.

I don't think the headphones make me a better FPS gamer, but the better sound did increase my enjoyment of the game sounds & my overall sense of immersion in game.

Mostly enjoy headphones because I can now game late at night with sound roaring & not wake wife or kids.
