Hey everyone.

I have been concidering getting a turtle beach px5 for my ps3 but i want to make sure there worth the money concidering there cost.

At the moment i am using the audio from my television. I have my ps3 in my room and have housemates to concider so a propper 7.1 set-up just isnt going to work. I know this is a great headset and has had rave reviews, but a majority of my gaming is single player. So my question is to anyone anyone who has the turtle beach px5, is the unit worth the price if your going to use it mostly in single player games, or is it only worth th cost if your a heavy online gamer. Thanks

I would say really not.. Part of the reason they're so expensive is that they combine a surround sound headset with a microphone and channel control.. if you play mostly single player i'd suggest just getting a nice pair of normal headphones (that you can use for you iPod/Mp3 player and any portable gaming devices as well) and then get a composite-to-3.5mm audio jack converter and use the normal (Red/White) audio out from the PS3.. Turtle Beach headphones are quite overpriced for what they are (I work at a store that deals with alot of the turtle beach products)

Also alot of the Turtle Beach headphones aren't very durable, we probably get a few back a week that the plastic couplings that attach the ear cups to the headband have broken on..

G'day fellow person who needs to keep the noise down. Did a fair bit of research on headphones before i bought some. I have a set of Sharkoon X-Tatic SP headphones that I use to play with. They came from Amazon and were about $40 - $50 cheaper than the Turtle Beach ones, even after you factored in delivery. I rate them really highly and now use them for all sorts of gaming. If you mostly play single player games, you can even take out the mic. They are really solid. They have great sound and were pretty straight forward to set up. Just follow the instructions that come with them. They need USB power through the PS3 or your PC. When there is no sound owing through, there is a big hissing sound but I can't hear it in game no matter how much I have tried. If you're playing single player games, you can crank the talk volume and it'll go away. Sharkoon have 5.1 headphones, but unless you're plugging them in via a surround sound unit, you'll only get stereo from the PS3. There are plenty of other brands out there but these were my pick, and for the price, you can't fault them.

I have the DPX21 (7.1 but wired) and is just superb. Maybe you should consider this one, cause if you're gonna use on a room, I don't think wireless is necessary, the wire is quite long and is cheaper than the PX5. Or, you can get the Sony one for $100 in September (link bellow). http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/28/playstation-announces-official-wireless-cans-for-ps3-stereo-fra/
