tv issue with ps3

hi i recently purchased a ps3 with grand theft auto 4 and i did not get the experience i wanted. I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my ps3 but instead my tv http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-faq.pl?mdl=KP57XBR10W&LOC=3 You see I am getting a really dark picture that is i guess playable but highly annoying. My question is there any way to fix it and will i have the same experience if i exchanged the ps3 with an xbox 360?
