Ubisoft should be ashamed

I bought Farcry 2 for the PS# based on the wonderful gaming experience that was the original Farcry on PC by Crytek, Ubisoft has taken that great gaming experience and tarnished it so badly I've been trying to find a away to get in touch with them to write a letter about how upset I am. If anybody knows how to get in touch with them please forward this or send me e-mail details please.

First off I will say this, that the environments look wonderful, but this supposedly war torn country has nobody to interact with it other than the two factions you run into on the map and the underground at specific locations. There are no market places, villages with people to talk about missions or to just hear them talk about some background info on their country's plight. Each of the bus stops on the map is a building(completely empty) with four empty buses that don't even look like they could run. The story is so uninspiring that the only reason I've had to really play the game is to get all the weapons unlocked. This was trying as well as I had to look on-line to find out that the weapons dealer leaves after you've completed a certain amount of missions for him in Act 1 and doesn't return until your in act 2. If somebody told me that namely the arms dealer in the bloody game I wouldn't have been going to every god damn arms house to see if he was there. Just plain dumb. The AI is nothing to be proud of either, the first game was extremely challenging while playing Farcry 2 I started on hardcore and have had little trouble going through the game. This is especially true if you don't run and gun. Trying to get around this country is just a pain and boring. Yes it makes it somewhat realistic but come on if I wanted totally realistic I'd join the Marines or the French Foreign Legion. Look if your gonna try to make it as realistic as possible I should have to eat, take a dump, brush my teeth, etc.

Now to my biggest pet peeve, the online play. Holly crap its almost as bad as SOCOM Confrontation or what ever the new on for the PS# is called, I owned that game for all of 2 hrs before I sold it. Each time you try to play a match it takes 2-3 minutes to find a match if your lucky. Then you have to wait till everybody is ready to go, what the fuk is that. If your not ready to play don't log on. So now the game launches and each time you have to loadout, which means choosing your gear, now it would be smart to have the ability to save your favorite preferences but no. So now your on the map, sometimes your loaded with no weapons at all and have to run around till somebody kills you. Nice eh!!!. So you play your match and each time you die you have to wait 4 to 20 secs before you res-pawn cutting down playing time by 2-3 minutes per match. If this wasn't bad enough, they don't have a dedicated server which means after each match is concluded you get bounced back to the multiplayer screen or it completely fuks up in which case you have to press the start button and launch the game again. Trying to get to know players and meet people who could become friends to add while you play means nothing because after each match you have to start over again.

I certainly hope somebody from Ubisoft reads this, they should be ashamed of the game they put out. Rather than trying to make a game that includes an online component which is so half a##ed they should spend the time on the game and make it compelling and fun to play. Bioshock and Dead Space kill this game in every respect and neither of them have a playable on-line component.

well the game doesn't have my interest, but writing a complaint letter to ubisoft? why don't you just sell the game and buy something different.

tath is ur opinion on the game, i personaly liked it, the only thing is it gets too repetitive and the envoirement is always the same...

i havent played the online, but from wath i see it is pretty average, the only games u shuld play online are COD4, MGO and Warhawk, u shouldnt sell SOCOM, in any time they will realease a patch fixing the servers and improving gameplay and then u will be sorry.

and u cant compare the game to Bioshock or Dead Space, it is like comparing Marylin Manson to Beethoven, the recepy for a long game is having free roam in it, like FC2, and do little missions in the same map, games like Bioshock or dead space, wich are short but u never get tired of playing becuse it doesnt get repetitive.

Yeah, Crysis is the best game ever made, or at least that ive ever played. Not just the graphics and length of the game are good, but gameplay and the multiplayer are really underated. In my opinion COD4 comes nowhere close to it, and I like COD4, a lot, even if it came out now it would still be a must buy and would, if people had really good PCs or if it came to consoles, blow everything else out the water. I still play it, and I got it at release. It was the most underated game of all time, end of story.

Apart from a few glitches I like it.

Its not the sort of game you expect a good story with tbh. And the onlline was obviously an afterthought.

I agree with Murko74 , i bought it on the release day and man i was disappointed. People hyped it up too much, its prob the worst game i ever played on my ps3, (and the first to sell)

The game takes more then 8 hours to beat and online is a blast. Could have been perks, but when you chop someone down with a machine gun and you feel that controller rumble, You definitely feel each bullet hitting someone!

The game doesn't even run on the cry engine, it uses th dunia. people were expecting "the crysis on console"Like i said in the above posts,it's just a "sequel" to the name.

The first Far Cry was over 4 yrs ago and the AI was certainly better than this one. You'd think in that time that they would be able to come up with something a little smarter?.

As for the onlione play, I actually enjoy the game play once it gets going but the problems trying to get loaded into a game or the server having problems while playing make it so annoying that it gives you a headache. Ubisoft should buck up and have a dedicated server like COD4. I know the COD4 server is not perfect but its a hell of a lot better than a non dedicated server for Far Cry 2.

It's all the little things as said in my original rant that make this game so disappointing. There was such potential for this game and it's just come up short in every department and if that's not making a half a##ed game I don't know what is.

P.S.

I've also experienced problems with Audio cutting out during fire-fights on single player. My weapon goes mute while the enemy weapons sounds crystal clear. Also it has from time time time chuncked out/lagged at certain points.

Here's the link to UbiSofts General forum for FarCry2. That's the best place to complain or cheer as the mods and monitors are actual UbiSoft Employees usually.

No they shouldn't . They released a shooter unlike others on the market . The graphics engine is beautiful , like really beautiful !! Physics are great, buddies are great, weapons are great, sniping is great, day-night is great, unlocking stuff and searching for diamonds is fun, every part of the land feels real.

Yes, the story is crap and the pace is slow , but that's just what I like about the game . You buy a one of a kind product, part shooter, part sandbox . Yes, it is repetitive, but sooo beautiful !!

UBI is slowly becoming the new EA. EA has slowly picked up the slack and UBI has dropped the ball on quite a few titles, namely the Rainbow and the next gen Splinter Cell games.

Even Assassins Creed wasn't that good. Anyways, I stay away from UBI almost as much as I stay away from EA...that's the best way to get back at them...stay away from their titles. End War wont get any attention from me.

far cry 2 is nice if u dont like it ur probably not good at it, its 2 realistic 4 u(no special powers or magic LOL), or ur not use 2 a game that takes longer than 1 day 2 beat

Wow, if you guys new what a good oniline competitive multiplayer match was like (NOT COD4) you would think much different. And dont say its broken, that would just go to show you didnt wait for the update, which fixed it right up, although i had no troubles from the start.

i agree with the TS. the game world feels very very bland ect. the missions are the worst i have ever seen as far as being repetative and boreing. extreemly little varity ect. the enviroment is cool but the whole free roaming and "sandbox aspect of the game is very lacking. alot of the time you confined by cliffs ect. and even when your not there is nothing realy to do or see.

I do how ever love the the concept of weapons that degrade, jam ect and cars that need to be repaierd ect. its just that the actual exacution ofthese gameplay concepts are very very half arsed. basicly IMHO that discribes the game over all. the concept is great but the exacution ofthose ideas are very underwhelming.

Its not a horrible game but IMHO its not arealy good game eather. it just screams great concept, medeocer effort.
