I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm getting sick of game devs slapping us PS3 owners in the face. The latest news is that Ubisoft will be releasing a GRAW 2 Multiplayer Demo on Xbox Live here shortly without mention of a demo for PSN.

I had finally had it, so I emailed them the following:

______ Hello, First off, I'm not an investor, I'm a consumer. Your website doesn't list an e-mail for consumer support, so to be heard, I was forced to use this e-mail. I apologise in advance for that. I have been a long time player of Ubisoft games and have been looking forward to some Ubisoft games. Recently I noticed that Ubisoft seems to basically be giving the Playstation 3 system the shaft on a few things.

One of those things is the fact that where TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) was slated for release for the PS3 early in its development, it is now not comming to the PS3. It is however comming to PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 and PC. Many multiplatform games on PS3 and 360 are virtually identical, so why not just put the game on the PS3 as well? I am aware that I can play the PS2 version of the game on my PS3, however the PS2 version is sub-par to the experience that Xbox 360 owners get to enjoy. Secondly, I heard that Ubisoft will be releasing a demo of GRAW 2 on Xbox Live (Live) soon. There is no mention of releasing the same demo for the Playstation Network (PSN). Why aren't you putting the demo on the PSN when it's on Live? I would hope you don't do this when it comes time to release an Assassin's Creed demo. It clearly seems to me like Ubisoft is ignoring the Playstation 3 fans of your games and I don't understand why. Please explain to me why Ubisoft is doing these things. Thanks for your time. _________

Hopefully I hear back from them sometime tomorrow or next week. I'll keep you guys filled in as to what reply they have, if any.

From what I read 3rd party companies must pay to host their games on PSN. They don't pay anything on Xbox Live.

Actually demo's are a big deal to me. I would never have bought motorstorm if I just saw it in the store -- after downloading it I am buying. Genji - would have considered buying it - after demo - no way I am buying it :) -- NBA - based on reviews No - after playing it I am thinking it isn't all that bad, but not good enough to buy downloading demo's is great to me and companies that don't have their demo's available will not be considered for purchase as much as games I can test -- this is how you tell the companies to put their demos out there.

I dunno isn't GRAW2 coming out on 360 first?   I don't think there is even a PC demo out yet?

Seems like it takes longer for demos to come out on PSN unless you're a first party dev.   What are the big demos out now?   All I hear about is Motorstorm.   I don't have a PS3 only XBL but was curious.

demo distribution hurting the game sales in a way.   It hurt the sale of bad games which will hurt the industry but it would at least slap some sense into those developpers that makes bad games

They were all supposed to come out at the sametime, but the PS3 version has been pushed back til June, it's still coming out for every other platform in March.

The e-mail isn't to make them mad... it's to show that PS3 fans are getting shafted and are angered about it. If someone that gives two craps about it gets the e-mail, maybe something can be done. At the very least it lets someone somewhere know that someone that is a potential consumer is angry at them for their decisions.

Ubisoft always slaps Sony in the face on everything. They ****ed up so many games on the PS2 it isn't even funny. My favourites are basically the Tom Clancy games and the Brothers in Arms. Look at GRAW on PS2, that game just blows. :( I was really looking forward to that game, I just hope they don't mess up all the good games on PS3. I don't see why they would do that though, the answers will come soon enough though. :)

Well to be quite honest, I am very mad at all the developers. Very dissapointed, 90% of the game demos on the PSN network are from Sony, while compared to my Xbox 360 I'm getting demo's from Capcom, EA, Ubi Soft etc etc, what's up with that?

Why can't my PlayStation 3 get some game demos? That's ridicoulous. The developers are giving it the cold-shoulder, how do you expect a game console to be profitable if you don't show support for it?

True, it isn't being released on the PS3 until June. But I think the posters point is that there have been other games (namely Homecourt & Def Jam Icon) that received demos on XBL where none were released on PSN. From my understanding, b/c PSN is free, devs host games on their own servers whereas Microsoft hosts games on their own servers.

I hope to see more downloads in the future as well.... but thankfully most of the games I'm looking forward to downloads of at the moment are 1st/2nd  party titles anyway :-). I don't like Def Jam: Icon from what I've seen so far. GRAW 2 would be nice... but what I'm most looking forward to are demos of are Lair, Warhawk, & Heavenly Sword.... Killzone 2 wouldn't be bad either :-). So while I would like to see more 3rd party demos as well.... Even if we only ended up getting demos of Sony's exclusives, I'd be a pretty happy camper.

The shameful part for developers like them is that this is the time to really show off their games for the PS3. They could get an edge and maybe a lot of money on the game if they only just release a demo. So what does this mean? I won't be getting any Ubisoft games for my PS3. They don't deserve it for their attitude. But that's that, I'll be looking at that Heavenly Sword demo with hungry eyes.

If Ubisoft keeps up their work as of the Sony Playstation (2 & 3) then they aren't going to make any money from these consoles, well not my money anyways.

good on ya, i'd also like updates more often on the progress games have. for example battlefield bad company is supposedly going to come out march 1...yet there is no information on it's release date or about the game itself except for the fact the enviroment will be 90% destructable.(pretty much the only reason i want it) or like resident evil 5. i'm sick of wondering when these games are coming out, and what they are about. anybody else feel the same?

and why don't they give us a report on assasins creed, do they like pissing everyone off?

I'm sure the lack of a demo is more a function of Sony's unwillingness to establish a comprehensive online package, similar to XBL, rather than Ubi's unwillingness to deliver the goods. A lot of dev's have been scrapping online portions of games b/c of this problem. Take VF5 for example.

Part of the reason may be due to the PSN network still going through growing pains as well.... might not even be all on the devs. The PS3 is still a fairly new platform and I'm pretty sure that they'll get all of these issues resolved over time.

In the meantime, there are enough good games coming out in the VERY near future that I'm not really terribly concerned about demos. ...But I may just feel this way b/c all the games I want demos for are still a couple of months off anyways.

There has not been a single report of an multiplayer mode being scrapped. As for your example, VF5 never had online multiplayer.

Given that I wanted more than just Ubisoft to know that PS3 gamers are getting sick of this crap... I wrote the following e-mail to EA a few minutes ago: _______ Hello, I have been a long time consumer of EA games going way back to the Sega Genesis and probably before. The reason for this e-mail is that I would like to know why you havn't been releasing demos on the Playstation Network (PSN)? Recently, EA released a demo of Def Jam Icon on Xbox Live (Live), but didn't release the demo for PSN. In doing something like this, EA is basically alienating the PS3 owners who dont have other next gen systems.

With games now costing $59.99 each, I am being very paticular on which games I purchase. Demos are always a welcome thing as it gives me the ability to see what a game is like before purchasing it.

If EA is thinking that they will just for-go putting demos on PSN, and if PS3 gamers are considering the game, they will rent it... think again. It now costs $8.00+ to rent a single game. I will not be renting games at all, and if EA decides not to put demos up on the PSN, then there will be very few EA titles that I buy this generation. EA has many games available for the PS3, and the support is great, but show support on the PSN as well so that we can try some of your games without having to make a $60 leap of faith. Thanks for your time and the consideration of my e-mail. _______ Like the Ubisoft e-mail, I will be posting the reply to this e-mail as well when I get it.

From what I read 3rd party companies must pay to host their games on PSN. They don't pay anything on Xbox Live.

[QUOTE="nroehrig"]I'm sure the lack of a demo is more a function of Sony's unwillingness to establish a comprehensive online package, similar to XBL, rather than Ubi's unwillingness to deliver the goods. A lot of dev's have been scrapping online portions of games b/c of this problem. Take VF5 for example. haze_blaze

There has not been a single report of an multiplayer mode being scrapped. As for your example, VF5 never had online multiplayer.

Kojima mentioned in his gamepro interview that sony has been sluggish releasing details of its online plans. Other developers have said similar things. That's part of the reason why online intensive games like R6 vegas keep getting bumbed back (I think it's April now) for release. Why do you think launch titles like Tony Hawk didn't have online play? And VF5 will have online for 360.

No it won't...unless you have a link (which you will never find), you're getting close to trolling.

Last I heard it was planned. But, you are correct I could not find a link confirming that so, maybe you are right. As far as the trolling, any time any person makes the slightest crticisms towards sony on this board they are labeled a troll. I'm a fan of all the next-gen consoles, and if Sony would have come to the bat right away with a couple more kick a$$ games, and a comprehensive online service I'd have purchased one weeks ago. I'm sure they will eventually...but they've had a slow start, and I'm not sure how anyone can argue against that fact. You got me on the VF5 online, but ease off on the troll stuff. Try engaging in a debate instead of casting aside the other points I've made (which are valid) by labeling me a troll.

it's gonna take more than one e-mail to get a top notch money making developer to care. You'll just get a generic    e-mail reply from them. it's nice that you took the time to e-mail them, but really, what will it do?

With the 360 they just send Microsoft the demo. On the PS3 they have to setup servers, host the game, etc. Also, with the 360 you have a huge established online community - lots of people use it. The PS3 is newer and isn't as strong with online gamers. The number of PS3's out there just doesn't warrant all the work involved.

[QUOTE="Telekill"]I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm getting sick of game devs slapping us PS3 owners in the face.

I'll keep you guys filled in as to what reply they have, if any.

thats great :)

instead of pointing fingers at Ubisoft and EA, how about pointing fingers at Sony. Why are they not going out of their way to make sure demos are on PSN?

You can download demos with Xbox Live Silver, which is free. So there goes that theory.

Now that would make sense. How about you send an email to Sony and maybe they can do something about it.
