everything seems to be much more fluid that 2009.
was definately fun to play (hoping the rampage beatdown i gave evans actualy happens at the end of the month)
Overall, it seems to be improved in all the little bits that bugged me last year.
And the character models look better too!
I'm not liking it. Everything seems harder to do and I don't like the ability to sway punches because thats what everyone is going to do online.

i dissagree i love how you can avoid punches
so much more realistic

After all of the hype, I'm not impressed. It's too much of a button-masher to me, and to be honest I expected a much more "real" experience like "Fight Night Round 4" where you need to be careful and pick your shots... Machida just hyper-elbows people into brain death every time, which he might do in real-life because he's an amazing fighter, but c'mon... This game felt more like "Street Fighter" than it did being based on MMA... There's no glancing or slight blows, contact is solid every kick, etc. and that's not my experience from watching the sport or practicing/ sparring in Karatewhen I was younger... it's all too perfect and machine-like...
... respect to those who dig, I'm just not one of 'em.
It's fantastic. It's so fun yet it does have a lot of rough edges that are blatant but at the same time, due to my obsession for MMA and my love for the game itself they're easily overshadowed by the deep feature set and impressively robust roster. Plus the PS3 version will have 3 bonus fighters which rocks.
O its a good game dont get me wrong, they added a lot of new things to the game that are a welcome addition.
But The Striking is still robotic and it sucks. The point of striking is to use your jab to set up combos, and either break down your opponent and set them up for a take down, or to simply knock them out.
The striking in this game is just so robotic, that I get alot of success on Advanced and Expert Modes just by going up to the opponent and button mashing, and throwing a bunch of close range elbows. Or I just simply use the special attack buttons.
But The Jab is useless, along with the straight right/left. (unless its machidas special), and it feels like putting together combos is impossible as the fighters are pretty slow when it comes to standard punches, as they cant even throw a 1-2 combination.
The Kicks are fine , everything else is fine , I think they just need to work on the fisticuffs and make it more fluid, As it would be impossible to recreate any of BJ Penns last few matches as the jab is pretty much useless.
My other grip is with the way the stamina works, as in when i try to escape from underhooks, the computer can just grapple block and the stamina goes down super fast.
But other than that, the game is pretty fun, but Im putting my money on EA MMA to be the better game.
i agree fully with you, I also noticed that the punches did connect but didnt register, or they were just regular punches, no glancing blows no nothing. After all of the hype, I'm not impressed. Yeah, I know about that, I kind of wanted it to be more of an in-depth tutorial, instead of look and memorize, I wanted to actually try it out, while it shows me on-screen.
Was fun but I can see it getting old for me after a while as do most other fighting/wrestling games. I was contemplating getting the full version, but I don't think I will now that I've played it.
It still feels feel mechanical(especially player movement) i skipped 09 game but i'll buy buy 2010 if i can get it $30-$40. The player models look good but it makes me wonder why THq still using the PS2 engine for today's Smackdown games. Whats the word on EA's MMA?PSP107
EA mma is going to not be good
they have no good fighters
and its going to be the first installment

Thats not true at all. they may not have the big names of ufc but they still have good fighters, and who cares if its their first installment? They made fight night which is a great game, so they have a basis for the stand up not to mention a better engine. They also wanna outdo thq after the whole dana white thing so i think they are trying hard to have the better game. I think mma will have better gameplay then ufc, but ufc will have the name and presentation that people will draw to[QUOTE="PSP107"]It still feels feel mechanical(especially player movement) i skipped 09 game but i'll buy buy 2010 if i can get it $30-$40. Re-read your comment and then you'll gradually realize why know one can take you seriously. lol..because it's "the first installment" that means it'll automatically suck?? How is any game started to begin with? It has to start with at least ONE installment to be given a chance.Judging as much as it is possible from the given demo UFC 2010 is pretty much the same as UFC 2009 with small improvements. Nothing much wrong with that if you enjoyed the first title but unfortunately I had quite a few problems with it and 2010 demo doesn't seem to address any of them in any considerable ways.
The gameplay seems exactly like before, clunky, unrealistic with no real sense of knowing how much damage fighters are experiencing and one stupid lucky punch can still steal victory after hard work.
Regardless, it's more of the same for those who liked the previous game it seems.
That's either good or bad - depending on how you look at it.
I'll continue keeping my eye on EA's MMA.

those flashy KOs made no sense as it happens so easliy it seems.true from the video reviews and info I've seen except that the visuals have been turned up a little and there are now more fighters to choose from :) I am sure glad I didn't buy UFC 2009 then :Dehh, it feels and looks exactly the same as lasst year

lolyea ok there buddy, no good fighters at all..... and its the first installment, and they dont know how to animate a punch for some reason.....yea but for some reason, the striking is worse? lolJudging as much as it is possible from the given demo UFC 2010 is pretty much the same as UFC 2009 with small improvements. "Fight Night R4" remains the king of fighting games to me... you simply cannot button-mash, it won't work PERIOD. You have to get skilled at blocking, countering, and gaging your health and stamina based on how the fighter looks, primarily. I love that game, I just wish there was more on the disc and less in the way of unlockable (aka Purchased DLC) stuff... but still, the best fighter out there.
