...Slap a crying child in the face....

Someone please tell me what im doing wrong with submissions because they are doing my nut in... Im on career mode and I have a Boxing/Wrestling guy in the Light-Heavy division and I've been owning all through the career as a strong/fast brawler with good clinch striking and ground and pound.. but as I come to the end of my career (got told I was getting too old by Dana >.>) I decided I'd try something new out to make my character as versatile as possible, so ive started training Submission offence and defence...

EVERY SINGLE TIME I've attempted submissions, it gets blocked, I don't see what Im doing wrong? My Submission Offence is 90 and my Defence is 87...

Now to push me over the edge... Just I fought against Lyoto Machida n I whooped his ass up and down for 3 straight rounds, switched the energy bar thing on to make sure he was near death and It was on less than a quater full (also hes now at the point where he goes down every time I kick him in the ribs) I go for a submission, smashed the crap out of mycontrol button bashing and thenHE INSTANTLY BROKE IT OFF then we go toe-to-toe, he takes me down, Kimora, I tap like a lil pansy... WITH 87 SUB DEFENCE AND NEARLY FULL STAMINA!

Wtf am I doing wrong? Surely its not because I haven't chosen BJJ as my style, which fair enough should make slightly weaker at subs but c'mon this is just ridiculous...

Ususally it depends on what difficulty you are playing on, and the stamina meter is always your best bet, to insure a submission.

but in your case if you are playing on expert or something

the sliders are just ridiculous and make it nearly impossible to submit anyone.

it is wayyyyyy easier to submit a real human opponent than it is the computer.

its not you its just the sliders in the game making all fighters superhuman no matter what the stats.

ive submitted guys a few times on expert but usually i just dont waste my time.

That sucks, but this Skunk's Ring Piece ruined my 27-0 streak - even more annoying, I could have finished the fight about 20 times but I was determined to get a submission win.

UPDATE: Finally! I got a submission today! TWICE! I started a new career because my other guyhad to retire...

Hes a heavy weight Kickboxer/ BJJ with about 60-65 submission offence, BUT theres still the problem that It still seems to take me ALOT longer than most people to crack the submission.

When I did it today, I had to get his stamina down so about 3cm of it wasleft then I finally got it, but only whenthe barran empty aftergoing ape **** on my controller lol but since then I've also done the same thing, and they've even broke out on an empty stamina bar.

I've been reading tips off people on the internet and on certain forums and quite a lot of people have said they can get a submission on the first round with just under half their stamina depleted, how can I do that lol?

dont button smash when trying to put him in a submission

instead rotate the right analog stick in a counter clockwise motion as fast as you can

thats what I do and im pretty good

Just so you know, mashing buttons uses your strengths stats. while rotating R3 uses your submission def/attack stats. So whether you should use b.mashing or rotate the stick will depend on which of your stats is higher. I don't really like the subs system in this game, especially when you play against the computer. Even if your opponent is completely outta of stamina he will still sometimes get out of subs.

There is 2 basicapproaches to attacking and defending with submissions...

If you have high attack and defence you should always be using the right analogue to attack and defend your submissions.
If your a fighter with high strength but lower skills use the buttons.

The analogue stick uses your skills and the buttons your strength.

Stamina plays a big part.
If your opponent has high stamina it will be hard for you to complete a submission. The lower their stamina the easier for you to complete a submissions. This works the same against you.

Using both forms will lower the attackers and defenders stamina.
Stamina is another part of the game everyone should learn about...

I feel you man. I was 10 and going for the flawless record with my kickboxing/bjj when I got tackled and beat down. The next 3 guys must have seen the fight because they always mount and pound my face into mush. My buddy tried doing the specail submissions with his characters skills and he had a lot more success getting out of ground game and submitting opponents. Lemme know what works for you, good luck!
