It was for the PC & 360 version. The ones that are available, right? As for the level creator, they didn't mention anything like that. I may have missed it, tho...
I have the orange box for pc and its awesome, ps3 only owners should check it out once it hits store shelfs.
It's quite worrying though that the ps3 version was handed off to ea for a port, im surprised valve allowed that, well at least you will not have to wait another 12 months as that would have been likely if valve were handling it.
Also its worrying that the ps3 version has never been seen by anyone in gaming journalism(thy talked about this on the 1up yours podcast from 1-2 weeks ago), which is very worrying IMO.
The 360 version supposedly turned out great(i have not tried it but reviews are just as good as pc) so heres hoping the ps3 version is at least equal so you guys can enjoy it.
Another part of me wouldnt be that worried as hl:2 is not really a powerhouse like gears/killzone and will kill framerates with textures etc etc it still looks great even hl 2 from 3-4 years ago looks awesome but the ea devs really shouldnt run into any problems on ps3, but again it uses the source engine which is basicly a pc engine and 360 is basicly a pc in a box, who knows.
how long has ea actually been doing the project? when did valve hand it off to them?TheGodfather125Valve said that they do not have the resources to make the ps3 version or invest in the ps3 hardware. Meaning they are not smart enough to figure out how it works. Secondly I heard that ex employees of criterion are working on the PS3 version, they are the ones that made Burnout. Provided their knowledge is in Engine development I still don't expect them to do an equal job because its EA after all and they probably would want to push out the PS3 version before Holiday no matter what.
I'm crossing my fingers. I really hope they do a good job, since this is a must-have game, but knowing EA's track record with the PS3, I doubt it will be as good as the PC/360 version. Please EA, do a good job on this one!
For goodness sake... I've just sat here and watched this thread ballooning out of control. Not a sensible comment in sight. SO many ignorant comments. This thread says bad things about gamespot forum users... EA is PUBLISHING Orange Box. PUBLISHING. NOT developing it. This is EXACTLY why I hardly ever comment. jay_man1912
EA is handling the porting, not just the distribution. This means they hold the power to make this blow.

My mistake. I take it all back. 'PWNED'!

Some of the guys worked on Black as well which was a criterion game so they do know a thing or two it's not like it's some lame dev team doing the port.

I didn't know the Criterion team was doing the port! My faith has been restored somewhat.. I'm still getting the PC version, though. I just wish well for my fellow PS3 owners.I believe EA has already screwed up. Here's the evidence:
1. It's pushed back, meaning it's not ready to release, its development progress is slower than its counter part.
2. It's never been seen by anyone anywhere. It means it's not up to presentable state.
3. It's EA we are talking about. Since when they produced a great port for PS3?
4. The entire game engine is PC based, which means porting will cost a lot of man power and money. And given EA's record of being stingy and its "get-by" attitude, the port is pretty much a garanteed disaster.
Although I really want to get the ps3 version of HL2, if it's a bad port, I'll get the PC version instead.
