BBC has released enhanced iPlayer support for the PS3 today

I've been playing with it and I have to say its probably be best streaming video I'd seen..

I've 5meg download on my ADSL2+ and the 1.5meg stream is very stable

Way to go BBC/Sony..

I'm in UK but didn't getBBC iplayer at all when I got the update :(

Any ideas why?

When i updated to 3.00, i didn't get iplayer either. Then i turned off my PS3 for about 15 mins, then turned it back on and then it appeared on the XMB :D

It can still be accessed via the web browser too.

Good move by Sony & BBC :)

Even though the quality isn't brilliant quality, it's much better watching it on a TV than on a monitor. Good move, maybe 4OD will be available soon too.

Was watching The Hairy Bikers the other day. Great feature if there's anything you fancy catching and the quality was great. If it's been enhanced then it may look just like it does on the channel. I'll check it out.

That's another nail in my "trying to avoid paying the TV license at Uni" coffin :P Good news though.

My understanding is that the PS3 3.0 firmware contained some streaming/playback enhancements, which the BBC has now matched on the iPlayer servers. The PS3 now has a dedicated URL on the BBC site which kicks everything off, I've been using iPlayer before this release by simply pointing the web-browser at the iPlayer webstite but the quality is much better with both the PS3 firmware and the BBC upgrade. Still I hope that in November when PSN gives UK/Europe video store access it will also include BBC HD content.. (They have hinted at local videos so maybe)..
