UK PAL PS3 VS Australia PAL PS3

Hi guys, I need some help. In Australia, the 60GB version of PS3 has been discontinued and sold out everywhere. Ebay has a few auctions with prices from $1300 Australian Dollars per new 60GB PS3. I resorted to Ebay UK, and found a UK version of the PAL PS3. I impulsively bought the item and now the seller is waiting for its shipment before he can dispatch the item to me. In the meanwhile, is there any UK PS3 users who can share their knowledge of the UK console with me? I can post all I know about the Australian 60GB PS3, i just need the comparison:

  • 60 GB HDD
  • Region Free PS3 playback
  • Region B Blu Ray
  • Region 4 PAL DVD playback
  • Region 4 PAL Playstation2 playback
  • Rest is the same with all other 60 GB system except its B/C is software emulated
I am particularly worrying about the PS2 and DVD playback, hopefully the Australian PAL games would work in the UK PS3, that the region restriction wouldn't affect the playback. Secondly, I hope DVD would play, if not, it is not as a big deal as the PS2 game playback

You should'nt have a problem with a uk PS3 in Oz, there exactleyt he same machines, except maybe for the plug, (not sure if you guys have three pin plugs), it doesnt matter anyway as the PS3 runs of a kettle plug and is a universal voltage so any PC powerlead will power it without a step down. All your PS2 games should work as Oz and UK are PAL,providing you buy the 60 gig version, remember though that the software is emulated so not all will work. As far as I am aware, it should play your blu ray disks, however I am unsure about DVDs, UK is region 2, and Oz is region 4 however I'm 80% sure that region 2 and 4 disks are the same! The PS3 is backwards compatable with all PS3 releases from any territory (for now!) However some will only play at 576p or above! However australian and uk games are exactley the same so you should have no problem playing any Oz game on a UK PS3 hope this helps!
