I inserted my family guy umd in the psp and the psp starts making noises like its trying to read it but it never does.

i insert other movies or even games and it reads them. is it possible for a umd to not work, it has no scratches or anything.

has anyone encountered this with certain umd's? be it movie or game?

yea its the umd. its happened to me with a few umd's i don't really take care of. that's why i bought a carrying case.

i wasn't too worried about the umd but the psp i thought maybe something was wrong with that. oh well the umd only cost me 4 bucks anways. ha

I have not encountered that with any of my games however a standard line of reasoning would suggest that the PSP is perfectly fine and that it is just that one UMD. Do not put it back in though as you will put strain on the PSP's motor and other components. Does it make any kind of rattling noise or is it just that the UMD doesnt seem to want to be read by the PSP laser?

If it is only that the PSP laser cant pick the movie up...then the UMD disc must be a manufaturing defect. Get your money back or a replacement.
