I like using Memory stick games because they are faster on loading time. Sometimes I like using a UMD more than the MS.

technically, loading off a umd is slower than loading off of a memory stick. the approx read speed of a umd is 1MB/sec whereas most of the normal speed memory sticks are advertised at 10MB/sec. and write speed is 4MB/sec for normal memory sticks, so read speed at least matches that.

I guess but he was talking about buying the UMD than putting it on your memory stick.

I've read all the messages, and i think most of you guys prefer using MS instead of UMD.Due to faster loading time, less batt usage and more convenient..So..why is Sony still produce their games using UMD's instead of MS...:?

of course mem stick, they load pretty fast, but i guess umd's a less expensive way of putting the data, at least mem sticks of 1 gb were very expensive by the time the psp was launched.

There is a huge divrence between allowing free distribution and being able to, one requires the person to actively pursue the exploitation the other is the copy pasting work you can teach your granny.

There simply is NO copy protection for memory cards, the closest thing would be acount restriction as they do with PSN content and thats already easily fooled just by synchronising it with the PS3.

UMD's cant be read by normal disc drives
UMD's wont be read by your default burning tools
UMD's can not be bought at the store
UMD's have a built in copy protection

A mem stick can be copyd freely by default using ANY platform.

It would be cool if they would come out with a huge MS and when you put in your UMD it installs on the MS so you play off that... the UMD is just a back-up ya know? That would be the best idea :)

I prefer the UMD because I like seeing my games on the shelf, plus unless you get a huge MS you can't store that many games.

and aUMD stores more games than a UMD how exactly?

The largest PSP game ive seen so far was 1.2G before compression, the smallest being around 700MB thats still atleast 2 games for every card. cant wait till i get my 8G card in the mail, only costs 30-40$ through ebay stores.
