Uncharted 3 really any different than Uncharted 2?

Quality-wise, aren't they pretty much the same? I did notice that Uncharted 2 received a 9.5 and 3 received a 9.0 this difference is miniscule and arguably insignificant. I had a terrific time all throughout playing Uncharted 2, so I look forward to carrying on with the series with the third game. I just want to know if it's generally the same amount of fun as the second game so I know what to expect and won't set myself up for disappointment prior to buying/playing it.

I don't think it's quite up there with Uncharted 2, but it's still an excellent game.

uncharted 2 was more WOW because uncharted 1 was just a start... uncharted 3 wouldnt have been able to be WOW because the gap between 2 and 3 was minimal...everything that could have been done was done between 1 and 2...3rd one was just a polished version of 2....though good nontheless

Uncharted 3 has a very similar layout in terms of plot devices and set pieces, but it does one up Uncharted 2 a couple times with set pieces. Uncharted 3 was marked down because it didn't really evolve the series at all. If you've played Uncharted 2 you've basically played Uncharted 3; however, this seems to be what you want, so you won't be disappointed.

The story isn't as good as 2, and it also reuses a lot of things. There are a couple sequences that are done throughout the story multiple times, and it basically reuses the entire segment of the last sequence of Uncharted 2.

It is as good as 2. I would say better in most ways other than pacing and really annoying enemy spawns on Crushing difficulty. 3 wasn't the big leap forward 2 was, hence the lower score from just about everyone.

Yes! uncharted 3 has a mediocre story, uncharted 2 has a good story, Uncharted 3 is an interactive movie, uncharted 2 is a ps3 game, Uncharted 2 is a masterpiece, Uncharted 3 is a disaster, that only action/graphic whores love. sorry but its true well atleast IMO

Well Uncharted 3 is still amazing, but the change between 2 and 3 is minimal compared to the change between 1 and 2. It also has a few shortcomings, like the aiming being a tad iffy at launch, hit detection being suspect online, and a few plot holes in the story and less overall story focus compared to 2, but its still a damn amazing game worthy of its AAA score.

It's definitely worth playing because it's a fantastic action adventure filled with peril and excitement, but it isn't as awesome as Uncharted 2, which was always going to be tough to surpass anyway.

I think its every bit as good, but coming after a classic is never an easy thing to do. thats what makes it look not as good. i thought the story was worse, but loved the flow of the game. i couldn't put either down once i picked them up

IMO the first one was best...I can replay it at least twice a month at it still feels almost as fresh and innovative as the first time I played it....sold uncharted 2 and 3 cause they felt so exagerated and way to focused on continuing to fix the quality of the graphics that gameplay and story became much less of a focus in the next games.

How should they "evolve" the series? What could they do to it that would "evolve" it and still hold true to what fans of the series have come to expect from it?

I'm not sure how a person could like 'Uncharted' 1 or 2 and not like 3.

in terms of single player, yes, the game is very much similar, though I would say the graphics did get better. The gameplay saw minor improvements, but it still has the same story plot-holes and small gameplay frustrations. The multiplayer saw a major improvement.

Not enough Chloe or Elena to "kick back" if you know what I mean.

I'm not really sure. I thought playing as kid drake was pretty cool. I'm glad Naughty Dog is moving on with a new series though. My point wasn't that Uncharted 3 was not great. It's just that you can only do so much with a series, and after Uncharted 2, where do one take it? Some things I thought brought the experience down were: The last scene
hidden city crumbling and falling as you escape a braking floor
was taken directly out of Uncharted 2. Then you have the
repetition with the spider chases, and somewhat anti-climatic ending with the villain
. The super natural has kinda become a big part of the series, and the supernatural element in this one was kind of a bummer. Some things that I would have liked in the game: Made the desert a larger portion of the game. You only arrive there in I think it's the last 5 chapters (forgot when, but I know it was towards the end). I was hoping for them to do something with the Arabian nights theme and the city of brass. I was hoping for the mechanical soldiers (ancient robots) guarding the city. They could have taken the djinn plot line further, or at least made a more dramatic ending with Marlowe doing something other than
dying in a cutscene
.

I wouldn't say the supernatural stuff is a huge part of the series. It's there sure, but on the whole the supernatural enemies have gotten fairly little screen time in the overall run of the games. And Marlow wasn't the final boss, Talbot was. Granted it wasn't much of a boss fight, but it was at least as much, if not a bit more, of a fight as you had against Navarro in UC1.

Exactly even though Marlow was the main antagonist. You end up fighting her crony in the final battle.

You really want to see a boss fight between a battle-hardened dude in his mid 30's and at his physical peak against an 60+ year-old woman who's probably never been involved in an actual fight herself?

If they came up with an interesting way to implement that, Yes. It didn't have to be a physical battle they could have easily made a psychological battle with the hallucinations and djinn controlling Marlowe alas instead the djinn jar is seen for 30 seconds and then it just sinks to the bottom of a well.

As a full package, U3 is much better than U2; it has a solid campaign, same as 2, but the multiplayer is so fleshed out and much better this time. So as a full package, you're getting more but if you're only in it for the campaign then there isn't a lot in it, both U2 and U3 are quality campaigns and I think you'll thoroughly enjoy 3 :)

The difference between the two is that Uncharted 2 was a massive leap in every department from the original Uncharted where as Uncharted 3 failed to establish any form of progression in quality but don't get me wrong Uncharted 3 is still an equally as refined and polished game nonetheless.
