...as PINBALL!

This probably wasn't what fans had in mind when they demanded an Uncharted game for Sony's handheld. A series of new ESRB ratings reveals a new pinball franchise, most likely under the PSP Minis label, based on various first-party PlayStation properties. Pinball Heroes: Uncharted is the most noteworthy of the bunch which according to the ESRB descriptor, is based on Drake's Fortune. "Players use flippers to hit the ball around a crashed airplane, into silhouetted character targets, and off bumpers shaped like gold coins to score points." Joystiq

In addition to
Uncharted, other franchises will be getting the pinball treatment, including High Velocity Bowling, PAIN and Hot Shots Golf

Remember though, John Koller said himself "Bigger names, smaller games" So we can count on it being somewhat watered down, but I just hope that the awesomeness is still there. :)

It is ok cause I must be one of the few PS3 owners ( if not the only 8)) that is not into the Uncharted franchise ( dunno maybe I have not played it enough to be excited or in this case disappointed )

I enjoy pinball with themes on popular video game franchises. Makes the game more fun. For example, just plain pinball is stale, but with a Metroid theme like Metroid Prime Pinball, or Street Fighter in Zen Pinball, the game just feels more fresh. So I'd get this Uncharted pinball game. The Hot Shots one sounds fun too, although I wonder how they'll translate golf to pinball.

In a way I prefer this then a serious uncharted game for the psp. I don't think what makes uncharted great for the ps3 would translate well to the psp, so I would rather not see a depressing version of uncharted.

Metroid Prime Pinball: Coolest thing since sliced bread. I'm pretty sure they're going for the same thing here.

Good Story, Good controls, Fun game play triumphs over graphical achievements any day. Killzone liberation for the psp comes to mind. Even though it is nothing like the ps3 version of killzone, the psp game still was fun and addictive.

Good controls and PSP don't fit together very well, imo. Every game I've played felt like it could've been done better on another system.

Metroid makes sense for a pinball game; the biggest reason being that Samus turns into a ball in-game. And unlike Uncharted, Metroid is a franchise with more than 2 games.

I don't know what games you played on the psp, but there are plenty that I played which had excellent control and achieved the best out there for hand held games. You can list a bunch of positive things about the PS3 that PSP can't achieve. One is portable, the other isn't. I can take my PSP anywhere with me. Just cause PS3 can achieve better quality games does not mean all the good franchises should only produce games for the PS3. Comparing PSP to PS3 does not work that well. Apples and Oranges.

easy answer: those that don't own a PS3, and play games on the go or when they are not at home. i wonder if you did not own a PS3 and had a PSP only, if you would think the same way and not want a game to be made for the PSP then. GOW 3 looks crazy good on the PS3. Yet those same guys made GOW: chains of olympus for the psp so they get a piece of the handheld market as well. sometimes graphics does not mean everything. could turn this into a system wars thread and point how many reasons why graphics does not = sales, but i guarantee this thread will get locked very quickly.

I've played at least one game in every most genres and I didn't like the controls in any of them. Notably bad ones being Resistance Retribution, Gran Turismo, SOCOM FTB, and Syphon Filter. And I never specified any system. I meant another system as in PC, Wii, DS, or PS3/360 (depending on the game)

i liked 3 of the games you mentioned above, and a lot of psp owners did as well. I think its more of a personal preference for you than psp's limitations (which is just fine). You are right, same 4 games you mentioned above would do better control wise if they were on other systems, but that is why PSP is portable and others are not. PSP should be compared to other hand-held out there rather than comparing it to the capabilities of giants like PC, wii and other big boys.

Uncharted as a pinball game.. Well I hope that Resident Evil PSP mentioned on E3 won't be a pinball game.. They could make Uncharted for PSP in the same way Guerilla made Killzone: Liberation. Game wasn't straight ported from PS3, it has it's own form and that often defines good games released on PSP.

yup that is the example i used in the last page. GTA: chinatown wars is also another example of a psp game whose console version is different but works out great for the PSP.
