I was just wondering

Anyone thinks this game is too much like a modern Tomb Raider, but in male form?

Seems to have same idea, and updated to meet this generation's demands?

Why, just because of the treasures ? The gameplay is not even like Tomb Raider gameplay.

It's a lot better than Tomb Raider, I'd say. Besides, Pitfall Harry was snatching South American treasure long before Boob-a-rella came on the scene with her short shorts.

The popular 'dude-raider' quips are accurate, but the bottom line is that Uncharted is a great experience that shouldn't be passed over by anyone who owns a PS3...

When you really break games down, they all have a lot in common with each other. There is no getting around it. Sonic was very much like Mario, while Forza and GT are similiar in many ways. The same could be said for music, movies, and books as there are plenty of artists who sound alike, and movies/books that follow the very well established formula of good vs. evil. Tomb Raider itself has been blamed to be a rip-off of Indiana Jones in video game style. In my opinion, that didn't matter one bit as it was a fun game to play (the first one that is =D ).

There's nothing wrong with a company trying to market and develop a game that has some kind of tie in to make it appealing and familiar to gamers. It may have been similar to Tomb Raider, but did enough new things to make it feel like a new game. In my opinion, you could miss out on some truly great games (or whatever) if you look at them as knock-offs. I think it's a good thing for gamers when a developer says, "You know what, "X" game did this pretty good, but we can make it a better experience if we try doing "X" instead."

Just my two cents. :)

Tomb Raider is more of an adventure/platforming game, Uncharted is more of an action/shooting game. They don't really play the same - they just share common themes and settings. Uncharted is like Indiana Jones in game form.

You obviously haven't played Uncharted yet. Just play the game and you'll be impressed.

Tomb Raider crossed with Gears of War is what it is. I liked the first Uncharted, but it gets overrated around here.

it's irony because tombraider was ripped off indiana jones, and it had a male character in earlier builds, they switched to lara before release so it didnt look so obvious

Well, just compare the Uncharted and Tomb Raider franchises. You wil realise that ND had done a good job in making Uncharted stand tall among the many quality games that are out there.

Then all these games are ripoffs of Pitfall or Indiana Jones. Just play them and have fun man, no need to compare.

So Sony finally fixed the game after the firmware update, and im on chapter 8 on hard, and the game is pretty mediocre. I love the cutscenes and exploring, but all you do it seems is hang on to ledges the whole game getting to new areas shooting endless rebels...

That's like saying that Call of Duty is too much like Battlefield or Crash Bandicoot is too much like Sonic. It would be boring if there was only one hero in every genre. It's good to finally have Tomb Raider competition as for a long time it was completely unopposed. I completed Uncharted and I loved every second of it. I will be venturing back for the sequel too.

I am not sure why some of you got upset

I am just saying, some one saw the flaw with Tomb Raider and tried to make it fit for modern day gaming which is a good thing and a good job. Plus I think it is taking a lot of the same response back when Tomb Raider was out like good graphics, good gameplay, and a huge buzz

Maybe it was intentional by Sony, looking how Nintendo went back to its roots they wanted to go to their roots too.

And yes a lot of games are too similar, but saying Crash is like Sonic is not fair. Killzone and Resistance are fair enough, many Jrpg are fair enough because a lot seem just like the other.

After playing through Uncharted, i see that it is different to Tomb Raider. Uncharted is much more gunplay action and low on the puzzles, easy puzzles to add. Tomb Raider is much more heavy in puzzles that make you think more, but is less in the gunplay action. There is more exploration in Tomb Raider, Uncharted is more on the linear side. In short Uncharted feels more arcade-ish to it than Tomb Raider which I consider a real action adventure game, though both are great franchises.

Well said, before playing one should not say like this. The gameplay of UC is much better then Tomb Raider and everyone knows it. This thread should end here.

In my opinion Uncharted is a much better experience than Tomb Raider ever was. It has the feeling of an action adventure movie to me, with suspense and comedy thrown in for good measure.
