Hi everyone,

I saw Uncharted 2 on GS . The score is very high . Most other reviews in other websites have given it a perfect score . But yet I am still hesitant about whether I should buy the two games of the series . I just want to know if this game can get my brain to work or it's just an action game where all you have to do is shoot enemies and/or Jump/climb overplaces brainlessly . Personally I don't much appreciate Fascinating graphics , amazing sound effects or great story in games . The only one thing that deserves a high score in my opinion is novel, creative, unprecedented and challenging gameplay . I also like puzzles to be heavily included in the game. I don't like hit and smash games. So these are my standards . Based on these standards, would you think Uncharted serieswould satisfyme ? What do you personally think of this series?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply . Have you encountered any puzzles in the game? In fact if it's a good story that I wish for then I would have considered going to the cinema instead :P

First off, speaking off what I've read - puzzles play a more minor role in this game, but there are some. Singleplayer is straight up one of the best games to be released this year. The first was amazing, and this is set to be great. Storys great, graphics great, gameplay great, sound great... it's worth the money, without multiplayer and co-op. But multiplayer... it's... AMAZING! Requires tactics to win against good opponents and by no means whatsoever is it a run and gun shooter. If you have skill, then you'll do better. Co-op is tough and requires tactics or at least 3 good players. It's not as great as singleplayer in all aspects, but it makes up for it by the fact it's harder and you have people with you. It's hard to say if you'll like it. It sounds like you want a challenge, but you also want a game which uses your brain... which I don't think any games this gen have achieved on the PS3. No games I have require any working out or puzzles really, or anything which will trouble you. It sounds like you're being too specific and would nitpick if it didn't have those things. Don't go by reviews, but take a little hint from them and the gaming community - this games going to be amazing. Not one person has said it's a downgrade from the first, or even a average game. Try the demo, it gives you a good representation of multiplayer and co op, with loads of modes, maps and weapons. Singleplayer isn't included, but you KNOW it will be great. (Heads up: Demo ends tomorrow 4:00)

Though there are some puzzle elements in the first game, I wouldn't say that the puzzles are heavily dominant, it's more like you said, exploring, climbing and gunfights. The story is really great, the gunfights are challenging and your foes constantly try to flank and outsmart you. And you can't deny that the game DOES look good, even though you don't care. I recently got the first one as I hadn't really looked into until Uncharted 2 reviews started popping up now recently. The second looks so much better too, the multiplayer alone makes this worth it if you ask me, if you haven't tried the beta... well, it's awesome. So I'd say go for it. The first one is out in platinum and is dirt cheap anyway, and the second seems to be really worth it.

I enjoyed the first game, not as much as everybody else did. I think there was way too much shooting, and not enough puzzles and platforming. It just became way too action oriented for my liking, it had a good story and presentation, but those jet ski scenes were horrible. It's worth buying though, especially for $30 or cheaper

well: 1) this game has the best graphics of any game i have ever played( better than uncharted, gears of war1&2, and killzone2). you can actually see drake's necklace move as he walks. 2) the story is as deep as just about any story you will find on the ps3( other than mgs4) 3) the gameplay is fun and addictive...i have to stop myself from playing it just so i won't beat the game in one day. i didn't finish the game yet but so far there aren't many puzzles.

The puzzles in 2 are supposed to be much more intensive than the first. You'll enter a giant puzzle room without any idea of where to start and you just have to work your way through it, where as in the first game everything was pretty obvious. That's what they've said in the preview videos anyway.

Okay , Now here's this question that has come to my mind . Is the story connected btw uncharted 1 and uncharted 2 ?. Based on what I saw and heard , Uncharted 2 is way better than the first game in all aspect . Is it okay to directly jump to the second game w/o playing the first ?

in the dev diaries they say they are not directly related so u wont be wondering what is happening or stuff like that, but by playing the first one you will get more out of it. The first one is actually REALLY, REALLY good, its got a 89 on metacritic....

They made it specifically so you don't need to have played the first. You can jump right to the second. Uncharted 1 is still a great game, but if it's challenging puzzles you're after then maybe skip it.

I'll see if I can do that but I think I am sure I am going to try Uncharted 2 . It seems good enough. I hope It will have more puzzles than the first game. Even if It doesn't , I suppose everyone likes this series so I think at least it wouldn't be a waste to buy it. Thanks for your help :)

I just bought Uncharted and have only played to the 5th chapter so far (Don't actually have enough time to play it much:(). I am hoping to beat it pretty soon so I could get Uncharted 2.

In my opinion, it is a great game that is definitely worth a try for anyone that has a PS3. However, with the types of things you are looking for in a game, I cannot say that I have encountered anything that worked the brain. For the most part, it has been mostly shooting and platforming. It may be best to try the demoor(because you have a slow internet connection) rent it.

Good Luck!

based on your tastes i would pass up on uncharted. uncharted is extremely linear and the puzzles are simple. the single player experience is fun the first play through, but the game is entirely way too short with no replay value to warrant a purchase. rent this game

i cant comment on uncharted 2's single player but i have played the multiplayer extensively and it is really fun (i just dont like having to shoot someone whos wearing a t shirt and jeans 15 times to kill them). from the reviews i've read uncharted 2 seems like a much better game with better gameplay and replay value, so i would pick this up and rent the first game

but to be honest i would just skip the uncharted games for now and pick up demons souls. what an amazing game!

The actual puzzles in the first aren't that hard but on challenging i found the firefights to be puzzling at points. The final boss fight wasn't really a run-and-gun thing for me so much as one long puzzle. I thought Uncharted 1 was a great game and for $30 well worth it but hey to each his own right?

You'll enter a giant puzzle room without any idea of where to start and you just have to work your way through it, where as in the first game everything was pretty obvious. That's what they've said in the preview videos anyway.

Actually, all of the puzzles have some sort of direction when get to them. You just need to look inside Drake's journal and you will figure out how to go them all.

Uncharted 1 was okay. I don't really care for uncharted 2 to be honest. Im anxiously waiting for Resistance 3.

If you own a PS3, you need to play the Uncharted series.

Thanks

the puzzles are almost no brainers, and the platforming is in fact jumping and climbing brainlessly. It has good graphics and decent story, but still mostly a 3rd person shooter at heart. whether or not you buy is up to you

[QUOTE="alep-om"]

[QUOTE="yarou1000"] in the dev diaries they say they are not directly related so u wont be wondering what is happening or stuff like that, but by playing the first one you will get more out of it. The first one is actually REALLY, REALLY good, its got a 89 on metacritic....yarou1000

GS only gave it 8 . That's why I am hesitant about it :(

they also gave ratchet and clank a 7.5 for having too much variety.... rent Uncharted 1 ( u will be able to fnish it and maybe even get the plat) and if u like it get uncharted 2

that's cause ratch and clank deserved a 7.5. 7.5 is not a bad score.

ur kidding right the game is rated higher than 85 on metacritic gamespot underrated it ALOT and its main excuse was that it was doing to much and had an identity crisis....

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was one of the best video game experiences I've had in the last few years. The story is excellent, as is the gameplay. I wish it were a bit more open world, but I understand that the structure is there to move the story along. If you're a fan of action-adventure games then you owe it to yourself to play Uncharted.
