What games do you think have been 'under the radar' that's been overshadowed by hyped games? It seems this is happening alot and to be honest, these 'missed' games are far better than the over hyped ones which is a shame really. A few I think that have gone under the radar:

Vanquish
3D Dot Game heroes
Nier
Shadows of the Damned

Rayman Origins. Came out the same time as MW3, Skyrim, Skyward Sword, Saints Row: The Third, AC:R...shame it did, it's excellent and not enough people have played it.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. If you can overlook its shortcomings and hook up with a friend, its insanely fun.

Journey seems to be passing under alot of peoples radar. Maybe the hype will pick up in the net week or 2.
And I'm a little surprised Silent Hill Downpour isn't getting more attention. But not totally surprised. I'm only considering SHDP because this one actually looks really good. They're being overshadowed by ME3.

You guys forgetting to add these to your lists?

Here's one totally under the radar game: Game of Dwarves. It might be fun for people who like Harvest Moon/strategy games. It looks a little rough, but hopfully they clean it up in time for its fall release.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was very good but not well known.

IDK if many people played The Saboteur, but it's also very good for what it is.

From what I've played of Vanquish it also seems to be a very solid, under the radar game.

Good game that never gets brought up, even here - El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron.

It's a $%#&ing tragedy.

I think Saints Row 2 was probably one of the most overlooked and overshadowed due to Grand Theft Auto IV.

Despite popular belief, Saints Row 2 is NOT a GTA clone (in fact no game is, people should stop saying GTA clone), Saints Row 2 has a bunch of features that GTA never had and maybe never will. Examples:

  • Character customisation.
  • Storage for all types of vehicles (boat, helicopter, plane), GTA has always only let you store land vehciles.
  • Improvised Weapons, I miss these in Saints Row The Third but luckily Saints Row The Third added fun new features.
  • Crib customisation.
  • Car and Bike customisation, I know San Andreas had this feature but you could only customize a handful of cars, in Saints Row 2 you can customise nearly any land vehicle.
  • The ability to replay missions.
  • In mission checkpoints.
  • Trains can blow up.

Mirror's Edge...
Enslaved was a decent game but had some major failings so I don't feel too bad for its demise.

King of Fighters 13 was under the radar for me because Mortal Kombat and Super Street Fighter 4. I like KoF13 a ton better than both those mainstreamed games.

The KoF franchise had a substantial fanbase that's pretty hardcore, but it had a string of horrible releases and people moved on to other fighters.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Amazing game with an amazing storyline. I had a blast playing it and I've yet to play a game this gen with such an engaging storyline as this one.

I just bought Star Ocean: Last Hope International a few weeks ago... The series has somewhat of a following to JRPG players but overall I don't recall it getting a lot of hype. I think it's quite good.

Although older, Mirrors Edge never really got the credit it deserved and because of it being overshadowed the sequel got squashed.
I think Trine and Trine 2 are also great games that never really got a whole lot of attention.

the first Uncharted game didn't get the attention it deserved until the second one hit the scene... I felt like Heavenly Sword was under appreciated... Vaquish was overlooked because it was a campy action game, but it was an insanely fun and gorgeous campy action game... most of the titles I felt were overlooked were quite some time ago. Although, Kingdoms of Amalur flew under the radar for a while, but it got more publicity closer to its launch

maybe everyday shooter. its a tiny little game without the huge publisher of big AAA games, so obviously it didnt get much of an advertising campaign behind it. however, even other games of similar situations like limbo and braid were critical darlings so they got their publicity that way. everyday shooter wasnt received as well (despite being excellent) so it didnt even get that. it also had the commercial handicap of being hard (braid is also hard, but its puzzle based so walkthroughs got people through it in ways that couldnt happen in everyday shooter). the only hype it got was that it was made by just one guy and maybe won a little indie award before critics got over it.

Wait until you get Lymle and the main character turns into a emo girl. The game gets ridiculous.

I definitely agree with both Vanquish and Shadows of the Damned, they need to be experienced by a lot more people. I would also say Syndicate, that is an underrated game that is impressive.

Only reason i never bought it is because everyone says it is way too short, and after you're finish for the first time, you're done. You don't really feel like playing again, at all. Is that correct?
