I am looking for some interesting games that ar not just a clone of God of War, Call of Duty or the ever bland Final Fantasy XIII. I am not saying I don't like RPGs or shooters or beat 'em ups, I am just looking for something that sets its self apart. Also, though I admittedly do not know much about it, Knights Contract looks like it could be sort of interesting with the whole Witch girl being your health instead of your character having health. So if you know of any games that are out or coming out that look unique in their own way I would much appreciate your time to list it/them off in this thread. Thank you very much and good gaming to you. :)

Update- Arkam Asylum is pretty cool to.

You're on a gaming website, why don't you just look for yourself? :|

If it helps, there's a "game recommendation" sticky in the forum.

Most unique games are on PSN. Catherine looks like a unique game coming out next year.

If you like adventure games (in the 1980s PC-sense), there's Heavy Rain.

To be honest, Assassin's Creed may seem like one of the rest, but actually the combat in it is very unique. Also a game call The Cursed Crusade that is coming out, seems different, but then again I have only seen one demo so far. Also Majin and the Forskeen Castle is different and fun (demo on Playstation store now) The Last Gurdian seems very different and unique, Thats truly all I can think of right now. Hope I helped

The Last Guardian, and Assassin's Creed is.... one of a kind, but very massive. I usually mention Valkyria Chronicles, but you already said it.

I hear you on the need for something that breaks the genres, but you know that's a bit on the implausible side of things, as an expectation. There hasn't been anything that radical for a few years now (not to say someone won't come up with something truly original ever again), so really what I might suggest is a lateral step into a game type that you might have never played or wouldn't think to play. If you have been an action gamer or an RPG fan, get off those rails or try a different flavor.

I never see "IL*2 Sturmovick" listed in people's collections... it's an air combat game, but what I think makes it unique is it's attention to detail and the ability to make all of the mechanics and enemy AI so realistic you'll gain a new respect for pilots of the era as well as becoming a much more skilled pilot yourself.

Get the "Sega Collection", and go old-school.

"Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3", or "R.U.S.E." RTS.

Have you ever played "Metal Gear Solid" or "Castlevania SotN" on PSOne Classic. Those games are GREAT action/ adventure games no matter how old they get.

If you can't find anything in the present or future, I'm sure there are plenty of games in the past you haven't gotten through yet.

:D

do if this is how you feel why even post a response and keep it moving he only wants an active opinion and not some old thread that isn't being updated frequently.

There's been posts in it today.

I was pointing him the direction of the "game recommendation thread", which is surely a good tip considering that he wants a "game recommendation". The sticky is there for a reason. :|

Try Portal - it's in the Orange Box set. It's unique and it'll get you ready for Portal 2.

Call of Duty Black Ops, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, 3DDGH, Dead to Rights: Retribution, etc. are all really original and unique games IMO at least.

Dante's Inferno, seriously? Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but it's a flagrant GoW clone. Specifically not what the TC asked for.

TC: I'd recommend looking on the PSN for some truely unique games. They're smaller games yes, but they're priced smaller. And since there's not the kind of money involved as there is with major relases the developers and publishers are willing to take more risks. For my money Flower is one of the most unique (and best) games to surface in quite awhile. Also check out Braid. I cannot recommend those two games enough.

Yeah i actually love portal and Half Life has been my favorite shooter since the first one on PC. Im hoping for a new Half life Bundle for consols that comes with Half Life 2 and all the episodes along with the remake of Half life called Black Mesa.

If you're looking for something recent, then I also recommend Heavy Rain. The most unique game I've played this generation. But if you can find it, and have something to play it on, I recommend Killer 7 as well. It's a terribly underrated game for the PS2 and Gamecube. It's a bit old now I suppose, but it's very unique and a lot of people missed out on it. You probably won't find it locally, but it's only 20 bucks new on amazon.

Haha I actually own every version of Metal Gear Solid except the PS1 Greatest Hits version, along with all the sequels. And I own a copy of IL*2 Sturmovick and the Genesis Collection and have beaten SotN. But maybe I will try Red Alert. Thanks for the suggestions, you have a good taste in games.

Yeah The Last Gaurdian looks pretty interesting. Although there really isnt anything on it quite yet I am following it. And Assassins Creed is pretty good I just hate it when games end so sudenly. I think games should at least feel like you learned something or accomplished something instead of just dropping off randomly. I felt pretty let down at the end of the first Assassins Creed. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

If you are interested in The Last Guardian, you should try the Team Ico collection when it comes out.

You should also try Flower if you want different...and they will have a new game coming out next year called Journey which looks interesting.

pretty much this. There are tons of unique games on the PS3, just look around. My fav. would be Disgaea 3 (there aren't much SRPGs around) or if Diasgaea doesn't count Katamari Forever ^^

Another unique game you might want to try out is Afrika - you play a photographer in Africa and rather than kill the animals, you simply have to take their pictures. Haven't played it enough to give any real verdict, but I've liked what I've played. It's just a beautiful game to look at.
