**UNOFFICIAL** European Launch Thread

Ok so with March 23rd approaching, I thought: Why not relive the great PS3 launch experience once again?

I live in America and I camped out at Target for two days and two nights.  I barely made it to the first one in line (surprisingly enough, I was also the only one in the line buying theirs to actually play and not sell). This was probably the single most fun I have ever had.  The anticipation was uplifting, the people around me were extremely nice, and we even got egged in the middle of the night by a bunch of people who thought it was "crazy" to be waiting in line for this long.

Anyway I enjoyed this experience a lot.  So to all you Europeans, who is getting a system?  Who preordered?  Who is waiting in line?  What games are you gonna get?

I wish that I was overseas and able to experience the wonderful launch experience again with some of you guys, I would gladly do so (especially since now I have a PSP to keep me busy).

To be honest i got mine pre-ordered at GAME but im still on the fence to get it now or maybe next year.

Im more excited about the launch and picking it up than actually playing it lol.

Mine's pre-booked as far as I'm aware there won't be any need to queue I was speaking to a guy in the store where I'm buying mine and he said all pre-books made upto this weekend will definately get a system on launch day. Anybody who tries to pre-book after this weekend may struggle. That says to me that there won't be any for general sale on the day. The same happend with the PSP here (Dublin, Ireland) only those who pre-booked theirs got one on launch day. As for the games I'm getting Motorstorm, F1 Champ Edition and Tiger Woods 07. I know all the talk is about Resistance Fal of Man and even my home town where I was born is featured in it but I hate FPS can anyone convince me otherwise?Liams

Was there any offical reason why the European launch was delayed? I heard that the pre-books in the US where way beyond Sony's expectations and therefore they had to suspend the European launch to cope with the demand in the US. Is that real reason? Did anyone else hear that? Or was the Euro launch always going to be after the NA and Japanese launches?Liams

I think the official response was that they had production issues with the blue diode laser, so they could only make so many, and apperently the US and japan are their priority regions

Ha am i the only one who is just gonna turn up to game at about 10 o'clock am on friday to pick it up:P Im not staying out all night, iv pre-orderd it, im gonna get a launch one and it aint going any were :P

Im not sure if im getting mine on the launch day because i pre-ordered about 2 months ago.Not that it matters to me as long as i get it this month its all good :)

I take it your aiming to get yours at midnight on the 23rd? If so how many continental Europeans will also be getting theirs at midnight? And seeing as most of continental Europe is 1/2 hours +of GMT they may take all the free James Bond movies before we even get our hands on our systems in the UK & Ireland..................Just a thought......

I posted an answer to a similar question to this on a another board. The short answer is yes they'd have to have done purely for logistical reasons.
