unreal tournament III worth a buy or no?

hey guys, i gots a question hopefully someone out there can answer. okay well ive noticed that unreal tournament III has been rated pretty low on most sites but game looks really interesting and fun to me..but i was wondering if anyone out there that has played it can lemme know if its a good game or not like single play good is online play good does it play smooth you know..well thanks guys..

yes if 1. you enjoy online play.

thats about it because single player is so shallow. but you need to realize how much depth and life mods add to the game... its insane. there are talks online of a community turning the game into gears of war via an actioncam and a cover system... its going that deep. its a longtime investment that, given the previous scenario, should pay off.

Theres no other game that will let me play as Master Chief in fully destructible Lego town on the PS3 with a 3rd person camera like Gears of War.

i dont like to point out names but whoever said that playing with bots is just like playing with people is an idiot, to put it as nicely as I can. I took back COD4 when UT3 first came out and got that instead...WOW what a morron I was! UT3 was not for me. I just dont like fake green glob lasers and crap like that. I should have known better, but I bought into the hype. Took that thing right back and reclaimed the glory that is COD4 and have never looked back. If you like ultra fast futuristic laser junk where all you do is jump around then go for it. If you like a more realistic feel, search elsewhere.

UT3 is not a good single player game. If you don't plan on playing online, then forget about it. However, even online, you have better options, in my opinion. The PSN community for this game is incredibly lacking. Most times I've tried to get on, there were never more than 10-15 rooms for any game types. As far as online performance, it has been pretty smooth, with very little lag, some texture pop-in, and general connection/game crashing quirkiness that pops up in most online games at some point or another.

If you're really into fast-paced, trigger happy, arcade type shooters, you should definitely give UT3 a try. It's a great game that would be a must own if more people played the dang thing. It also looks gorgeous. But I've hardly spent any time with it since beginning my addiction with COD4. Between that and Orange Box, my PS3 has been on lockdown for the last 2 months. I would recommend either of those over UT3 at this point.

bought it the first day it came out; totally regret it. it was fun for awhile, but it's lack of voice support and clans really drag it down. not to mention the community is small as hell. almost as small as turok's. there are definitely better online shooters for the PS3. still, if you're a fan of UT2K4, go for it.GUNpoint_

I've been playing UT III on the PS3 pretty much sense launch. Rented in a handful of times, then finally bough it. Epic just released a patch which has fixed some of the known bugs/issues. As mentioned before, The Campaign Mode isn't all that great, but fun none the less, if you complete the campaign mode, it unlocks a few characters for you. Plus, it gives you a feel for the game. Kind of like a warm-up session. The 'quick matches'/bot matches are also good for practice, while obviously, the computer AI can't compare to playing against another person, at the highest setting, the AI does a reasonable job of keeping you on your toes. The addition of user created mods keeps the game fresh, it's like always having something new to play. As far as lag issues, that's overblown in my opinion, if you search for servers with good pings, or host the server on your own, you'll be fine. I've played CoD 4 (2nd LT Rank online) and while the games are completely different in the sense that UT 3 is futuristic and CoD is more realalistic, I still think that UT III is by far the more enjoyable game from an online stand point and in my opinion worth a buy. I have no plans on ever getting CoD 4. May rent it again, but thats about it. KayoticKiller

UT3 is all about online and lightning fast fragging. Almost everyone can feel like they are awesome but then again you will get pwned pretty quickly if you don't have the reflexes. If you just enjoy mindless fragging at a fast pace it's worth a buy. The best feature of UT3 is its mod capabilities, which allow for tons of new content all for free giving you an endless supply of maps and much morejyoung312
