So this will be a huge update if is true and the thing im looking foward to is ps2 and dvd upcaling. But what resolution are we talking about?
Also is upscaling ever gonna happen in the ps3 games? like 720p and 1080i to 1080p?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
[QUOTE="lennygundam14"]maybe 720p or 1080ihi381
yea by the end of this week the update will be out maybe today
yeah i dont think the update will be out just yet, it might be out by sunday or monday because it says by the 'end of the week'. So it may be friday, may be sunday, or monday for people living in different time zones.
cheers mate
*just got bak from suspension....hi :D*
He's referring to the news from Deeko that everyone is still slightly suspicious about.

Thanks for insisting about the link :)
So Deeko is just another random games related website, right? They also posted news saying Sony is promoting PS3 with Project Gotham, errrrr, how is that possible? They even inserted a picture to "prove" it... here
I don't get why people get so excited over a leak with no source. I mean, could the dutch be wrong?

RASECUL
they did promoted gt hd with a G car, didnt they?
can someone answer my question?? is 2.0 Official?
It can't be official, it will be when nobody will have to ask. If they really promote with PGR, I am profoundly confused... Did it look better than on it's rightful console? *shakes head and snaps out of it*
The Dutch news looked pretty good as well...
It'll will be official when KaptainKernal will say it is.
EDIT: And the picture of PGR running on PS3 looks real fake.
Well, before the 2.0 update, we've got 1.8 and 1.9 to look forward to, :P Would Sony even skip those two updates and just release 2.0? Now, there's a thought.
WHAT IS THIS (Ninja Theory's Heavenly Sword was also shown and from accounts was looking very rough, even at this stage in time which is 90% done. Many were left unimpressed) were they unimpressed of the game or the lack of content they showed.GARRYTH
lol, IGN says that it looks better than what was shown in the past and that it was indeed impressive. I'll make my own opinion once I have the game in my hands.

keep in mind that 1.4 didn't exist at all with the ps3. We went from 1.32 to 1.50 before.

True... If Sony did skip 1.8 and 1.9 than 2.0 will be a massive update. Too bad Sony don't comment nor comfirm the updates until its available.
I quote KaptainKernal:

Victory Note:
This was sooooooooo difficult to do... please pat me on the back for this. Gamespot gave me the old "Only 20,000 characters" Aloud in one post. And I went through 1 hour and a half of "HTML is not well formatted- You entry is not acceptable" Wow...I hate Gamespot forum HTML restrictions......
KaptainKernal
There you go to whoever said that it wouldn't be official until KaptainKernal says it is :P.
"Files can now be played sequentially." that means you would see music being played with notes while its playing like this
http://media.arstechnica.com/journals/apple.media/thumb/275/275/Music%20notes%20on%20white.jpg
that would be cool
Wabbit5
that was referring to video files since right now it only allows you to play one and then it stops, played sequentially means when one finishes...it will go right to the next one
oh but wouldnt it be cool if the had the music being played with music notes like a visualizer, and wheres the updateWabbit5
Sony never even talked about it, so it could be months away.
come on it wont be released for at least another week or two - the last one was only like 3 weeks ago surely they'd need more time to get all they wanted to do done and working properly
It should be able to upscale to 1080p. You can get a $60 dvd player that does 1080p, now it's quality prolly sucks, and the general feeling I have ( and I hear the same from others) is the ps3's 480p is as good as most dvd players 1080p. because the hardware in the ps3 is so much better.
I'm hoping full hd upscaling, but I'm just glad it WILL eventaully do it, whether that's 1080i, or 1080p remains to be seen.

The PS3 is nowhere close t oa decent dvd player so lets put that one to rest. Several tests have been done to confirm what the eye can see. OK I got the XP50 with the Faroudja (can't spell that) chip, but still the PS3 doesn't come close. A decent upgrade to 1080p / 1080i would probably smoke any dvd-player out of there which will be great when it gets here.
ok, so wheres the big update, the rumor stated it will be availible by the end of this week, and its already friday... BTW heres the link that states this http://www.deeko.com/news/?p=1413lennygundam14
Right on, I've been checking this board and all the other boards, friday's the day they said, I guess we have to be patient, see if they update the PSN
i think this is a bad rumor most likly there will not be a update today updates are done on thursdays
i hope there is one but i wont be holding my breath
how credible is deeko.com never heard of them
Isin't it funny??? Everyone is keep saying "be patient"....that shuld be the new slogan for Playstation fans.....Play beyond and be patient!
That stuff should have been in there in the begining anyways...why do we always have to wait for every single little damn thing! I just don't get it!

Ok would you rather have some glitchy half developed crap, or would your rather have quality? Stuff like this doesn't get developed overnight. I mean cut sony some slack people, programming is a very tough process, and to make sure everything works with the other things they developed takes time.

Well, the speed at which Sony develops the updates for its console needs to be seen as poor, at best. The problem is that they are taking too long time, and while they delivered a great console they did not deliver software that would complement it... that is the problem. In essence, it is a powerhorse that does very little (and costs 300 pounds). If the new update does not show up anytime soon I will have to take it to the store .... I am very disapointed with Sony :(Please Log In to post.
