Update 2.4 pulled?

So its like 4:30 and i went to update my ps3 to 2.4... and i keep getting this message that " newest firmware update has already been installed"...after research i came across news that a majority of ps3's are bricking because of the update and that sony decided to take it down.... anyone got any news, thoughts, comments or concerns about this?

P.S. i know its my first post... and i know how intense some of you playstation boys get about noobs...o well

I can't get the update either. It says I have the latest one and I only have 2.36

I wonder whats going on.

TC I believe Sony did pull the update. I'm experiencing the same issues that you are.

should i delete the update? I mean, its basically useless to me without the trophies/in game music incorporated in any games and if my ps3 bricks im screwed

At last they pulled it. This update bricked my PS3 by the way, so I am not ahppy about it.

Luckly I used linux to dd the drive to an image so whenever they decide to fix this problem I might be able to use my save games. At the moment the only way to fix the 2.40 bug when booting the PS3 is to format the drive or delete the first 446 bytes of the drive so it will let you format the drive.

Anyone this has happened to who don't have a PC with SATA or anotherPS3 is buggered because the ps3 wont even boot into XMB it just hangs.

hmmm.. but worrying for those of us that have already downloaded. oh well, my system seems to be working fine (played it for about 2 hours, downloaded a demo and played that). Gonna go to sleep and see what the news is in the morning.thetruespin

yea sony pulled the update. apparently after you restart from updating, the wavy animation will go in a infite loop and your icons wont show up. I also heard that there was a problem playing ps2 games but i dunno about that since I have the 40gb version.

They say the only way to fix the problem is by formatting the hard drive from your computer. but i believe theres other ways to avoid losing your saves or sending it in for repairs
