UPDATE: Magically started working again. Im back in the game!!

I downloaded the 4.5 update on Monday, everything was going fine and then the screen went black. And stayed black. I manually rebooted it but it just went back to black screen. Occasionally the hdd light will flicker but nothing else happens. I searched around the ps forums and found that it only seems to be happening to "fat" models, and possibly only ones with upgraded hard drives. I'm going to call sony this afternoon when I get off work.

Has this happened to anyone here? Were you able to fix it ? Please help!

I've had two PS3 blu-ray drives fail seemingly after updates. I just pay the 90 bucks every time and have it fixed by Sony.

Yeah, it happened to me on my fat PlayStation as well. I was pissed because Sony would not replace it giving me the excuse that I had it for a long time. So I had to go out and get the new super slim one.

I upgraded to 4.5 a few weeks ago and my 120gb slim works fine. AFAIK this is an isolated problem with a very small percentage of PS3's.

I'd recommend turning your PS3 on in safe mode and formatting the HD unfortunately.

Update worked fine for me. I have a 120gb slim. A couple of friends of mine have the thick PS3's and it bricked on theirs. It may be something going on with the older models :/

@heder_aziz911: Upgraded HD this has been happening too. Not all and who would know. Sorry to hear dude! My two backwards 60gb both bricked on the same update at the same time. Its a great way to get sales but companies can do too much nowadays with no accountability. Of course I cant say for sure right..

Good luck man
