Upgrading my PS3 Internal Hard Drive

im fine with my 40G hard drive but i am considering upgrading if i can get the ps2 system data to work. my only question is...will it work if i upgrade the hard drive to 80G+ or is it that i have the 40G model and it has to be an 80G+ model of the PS3... please help so i know if i need to upgrade or not.

you can upgrade to any size...so if you're gonna do it, go BIG...i just installed a 500 gigger and am loving it !

Upgrading your hard drive wont automatically make ps2 games work, you need to buy a ps3 model with the backwards compatability feature. No other way of doing it i'm afraid.

Yeah, it sounds like TC is talking about upgrading to another SKU (the 80 GB) over his 40 GB model to get backwards compatibility. It's a little confusing, though, since his topic heading specifies upgrading the HDD. If TC gets a new PS3 with software emulation, then he'll be able to play PS2 games. But, I mean, if you've already got a PS2, just keep that, and upgrade your HDD with a 2.5" SATA laptop drive. I got a 320 GB one off of newegg.com for around $100. Everybody likes more space!

nope, you need a ps3 that has the emulation on it. It's nothing to do with the size of the hard drive, it's the workings of the ps3 that either has or doesn't have the ability to play ps2 games.
