Hi,

I've recently decided to upgrade my 40GB PS3 HDD due to just installing the 5GB DMC4 game data and with all my other games, music and videos...space seems to be very limited.

I am aware that the hard drive will need to be a 2.5" SATA however I am not sure whether it should be 5400RPM or 7200RPM. Will they both work and if so, is the 7200 one any better for the PS3's performance?

I also have the concern about backing up my data. I know i can simply copy most of it such as save data, music and videos onto a memory stick, however what about my full games and demos? Is there any way of converting them to the new hard drive? My friend has one of those plug and play usb cables which allow you to connect an external hard drive to a pc and browse it...or is it not as simple as that?

Any help would be extremely appreciated, Thanks

Aron

you should go with the 5400RPM, they say 7200RPM is fine but can cause more heat and the ps3 HDD is at 5400RPM. as for the saving games, sorry no clue. You could use a flashdrive? not sure though. Demos, just download them again, and full games not sure if you mean game saves? their in KB.

When I changed my HDD, I called sony. They said to get the faster speed. That is the reason they made it upgradable.

Getting the fast rpm won't really show you a difference, unless you'll clock it yourself and notices like a second faster.
