I have a fairly old tv and i'm not exactly the most tech savy guy in the world either. My Toshiba tv has "HD" stamped on the front yet i can't find the hdmi port anywhere. Do most older TV even have hdmi jacks or should i be searching harder? If not is there any better alternative to the ps3's packaged cables?

If its a HD tv then it surely must have hdmi slots somewhere. You either have to look harder or justify whether it actually is a HD tv or not. If it a HD tv then how could they not make hdmi slots on it. That is like someone making a toaster with no slots to put the bread in.

If it's hi-def but doesn't have an HDMI jack, it must have component cable jacks. They're red, blue and green I believe. I think you can get a special adapter cable to hook your PS3 up to it.

Plenty of older HDTVs don't have HDMI inputs; just look at the model number for your TV and check Amazon or the manufacturer's website. The technical specifications in either place will include the types and number of inputs the display has.

Some older HDTVs only have component. If you cant find it within 2 minutes of looking, its not there. Component will do just fine.

And the composite cables that come with the PS3 are SD not HD. HD will make a big difference. Also look for any flip open doors on your TV that might hide the HDMI port.
