Hmm, sorry I don't know much either, but my PS3 says NAT2 and I have had no problems with online play. I have a LinkSys though. Sorry, I'm not much help. :P

There is one easy solution that will take care of the NAT type.

UpNp is more tricky, the make/model of your modem/router, and your high speed provider will decide whether you can rock it, so it's best to look it up. I'm using a 2WIRE, and they don't currently support UpNp :(

Putting your PS3 in DMZ mode through your modem/router settings can boost your NAT type. I just switched to DMZ tonight and my NAT type went from 2 to 1. Keep in mind that this is not as secure, and some beleive that 2 is better than 1 because it is more secure, and that 1 is not any faster than 2. I dunno, i'm still testing it out myself.

It's still not very fast... (At&t) I'm always looking for more ways to lower that ping, so let me know if you have any questions or if you find anything else out that works.

The NAT 2 should be just fine for gameing (it really helps when useing voice data such as useing a headset to talk to others on-line or in a game). If UPNP is on and working that should be what you want. One thing to check that could help is disable network shareing on your PS3. Here is a forum that may be helpful. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610541
