If i remember correctly, you had to have it turned on for ps3 to connect to your wireless router

it says it can affect the chatting with the xmb and prevent some games from getting online............ i guess this is just a thing they created so people dont have to setup port forwarding on their routers.

UPnP is enabled from your current router, if you are connected only to a modem and not a router you will need to call your internet service provider and ask them. Most of the time this is not enabled by default and you will need to enable it.

No it shouldn't be encryption now is this your router

http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-view.php?hw=175

if it is it should have UPnP buried somewhere in your router.

Look at the bottom of the router and see which revision you have then download the updates. If you still cannot get UPnP you may need to call D-Link Tech Support and see what they say. Another way would be to return the router and buy a router such as Linksys or ******.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE IDEAS?????????Esgabaldon

I have no idea...it is pissing me off as well sir...I am having the same problem.  My roommate is a tech. support guy and has no idea how to fix it...how lame is that?  his boss should fire him...especially because I think he gets on here during work.  No wonder people are cussing at him on the phone.

basically upnp is a standard that was created to basically do automatic port forwarding so you wouldnt have to go in your router settings to forward ports so your games arent blocked by your routers firewall
