Anybody else feel like the experience of owning a particular system this generation is not quite as special as during the last, in large part due to the almost
complete lack of 3rd party exclusives?
Now I remember well that last gen, both the PS2 and the Xbox had their fair share of exclusives, and at one point I owned both systems. It sucked for
owners of one system but not the other (Xbox had a lot of amazing 3rd party exclusives and so did the PS2) but it made the experience of owning that system
that much more special and rewarding.
I understand game companies wanting to sell as many copies as possible and with both systems being nearly equally as powerful it's not that hard to get
multiple versions going (not in Bethesda's case obviously), but aren't SCEA and Microsoft ever compelled to fund/partially fund and collaborate with 3rd party companies on exclusive titles for their systems?
What are your thoughts on this? I also found that 3rd party exclusives tend to be quite unique. I mean there are still some, like the Yakuza series. Sure it's not a killer app but it's unlike anything available on 360, and it's exclusive to the PS3.
