US PlayStation 3 Sales Climb 300%

"Following the introduction of 40GB and 80GB SKUs, Sony Computer Entertainment America has revealed that sales of PlayStation 3 hardware have leapt by 298 per cent since November 2. The climb is attributed to the availability of both 40GB and 80GB units at US retail. Figures for the Thanksgiving period - dubbed Black Friday - were up 245 per cent when compared to the previous year. According to SCEA figures, for the week ended November 24, sales of the PSP handheld in the region jumped 136 per cent compared to the previous week, and PS2 sales were also up 287 per cent. Ahead of the busy Christmas season, Sony is also enjoying positive sales in other key regions. This is good news! I think the sales were from the week before!

so in the mundial rank i think Wii is in first then PS3 ,PS2 and then Xbox 360, PS3 outsale in Japa and Germany!!

Last month for the 60 outside has been horrid. 300% is more the PS3 moving into a normal sales rout. While the 60 anywhere outside a advertisement is falling like a rock! They cant stay on this pace, or their in trouble. But its not like thats not where they have been, seen any new Old Xbox games as of late lol. That thing is in the suers of gaming now. All the US bots that spend 5 billion post talking about it already own one. And the rest of the world hates them. So yea their future looks iffy at best. If they ever learn to just be part of something and be liked, they may do ok threw a entire system race, intill than the hate will always cause them to fall. But since thats how they want to play the game, thats why they fail.

You say the 360's sales are falling like rocks... hmm, look at their half-assed promotion commercials. Those things make me laugh. If I saw that stuff just set up I would grab the TV(PS3's HD capability) and the furniture and leave the 360 there. Or, if I felt particularly nasty, in a puddle or in the middle of the road in a brown box.

Indeed it is!

This tells me that the majority of peopleSTILL support the Play-station brand. They just want it at a price they can afford. And just think, there only a few good games for the system right now and the 2008 PS3 onslaught has yet to begin...:o

i'd love for someone to post the 360's sales as a definate % rather than just stating that they 'plummet'

but of course im well happy that PS3 sales explode, does however mean more n00bs to 'clog up' games like resistance, however i'm not as sad about that as i should be.... im just happy about the sales. YAY

well the answer to the fact that the 60gig isnt selling, well its because they have stopped making that model the flag ship. where as most of he money is now going into the 20 and 80's. but i have to say that his has been a revilation of a 4th quarter in sales. and indeed this may just turn things around for sony. and the fact that more kids are going to be on just means more fodder for my cannons.

Uh, thanks? I've just read the GameSpot article here: http://au.gamespot.com/news/6183389.htmland it says that it's a 298% increase, during the November 2 to November 24 period, from the three week October sales. Also, GameSpot needs to check their math:

According to Sony, that rate of sale has roughly tripled, so it's likely around 321,750 PS3s were sold in November through Black Friday in North America. If those sales stay constant through the end of the month, then roughly 429,000 PS3s were sold in the US and Canada during the month. That's a marked improvement for the console, which has not sold more than 200,000 units in a single month this year.

I work at BEST BUY in FL and I talked to my friend in Media and he told me we sold out of PS3s on Black Friday.

I am very impressed with the sales I am seeing.

I sincerely hope to GOD that Sony will see a profit, so that they improve on more features and make their system untouchable and uncomparable to all rivals.

PS3 the clear winner by mid 08, unless for some unforseen circumstance the wii keeps enough people confused enough to buy it.americahellyeah

Somehow i think they will....but no doubt come around 2010 or 2011, PS3 will have caught up and surpassed the Wii.

ps3 console will only continue to climb through 2008 when more exclusive games come out as well.

Just because I bought a PS3 8 months after launch does not make me a bad person.....

anyway, i was faced with the choice between 360 and ps3, i chose the ps3 because, well i just liked it more.maybe it was the charm of the blue ray, but i am not that serious of a gamer, but i dont want to be spending a butt load of money on periphs. which i know would be the case if i got the 360. after i bought it all i needed was a hdmi cable. and boom done.

i can see why people would like to buy a ps3, even if your not a serious gamer. still blue ray, and the hdd media player, and the internet surfing device (which is fun when your showing off your you tube videos)

but any way, its good to see its coming back strong, least it at least wont fade to black like the dreamcast did (HA HA 360 FAN BOYS!!!!) eh hmm... sorry. i was just thinking that is all.

but ms still has the easy media sharing between my laptop and the 360, and 360 is no joke, it has live and its cool. bumps in the road really.
