USB Flash Drive Connection to my PlayStation 3?

Hey is it possible for me to plug my USB flash drive into my PlayStation 3 and watch AVI videos stored on the flash drive on my PS3?

I would also like to know how much the picture quality would be reduced once I play an AVI video that is a hair short from perfect DVD quality on my widescreen monitor onto my 52 inch HDTV.

No I do not know but you can use a memery card

yes you can play video files off a usb drive. as for avi, i've had mixed results. usually, i convert using this program

yes you can even use it as a memory card to transfer game data to your friends house

I know this ? has nothin to do with this thread but someone please help ..I played the Oblivion elder scrolls quite a bit on my friends ps3 i built up a character on HIS ps3 file save......i just bought a ps3 the other day and i want to get my file save from his ps3 and apply it to my own...I dont have internet access either

I know this is a Noob ??? but i need to know Can someone please explain to me in DETAIL how i could go about doing this
