I wish I had all the answers but I don't. My girlfriend purchased a used 60GB after trading her 360 in for a Playstation 3. It was a good model, no scratches really and it looks like it hadn't been used much. The problem itself is not frequent yet every so often.
The Issue: Every so often, the Playstation does not want to play Playstation 3 games, or at the very least Call of Duty 4 or Warhawk, yet Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, and other Playstation 3 games do play. It will also play Playstation 2 games, as well as DVDs at this period of time when it doesn't want to play some of the Playstation 3 games. When you insert COD4 at this time, for example, the loading icon will appear then disappear. The disk will not be read and the Blu-ray disk icon where you would highlight your game will not appear.
The Concern: We don't really want to take backthe Playstation. We have about eighteen days or so before Gamestop will not take it back to replace for another used model. I just want to know your opinion on whether or not it's the disk drive or perhaps a glitch of some sort due to a Firmware update (It's updated to the most recent one). It's just slightly odd that when this problem does occur, that it will play some PS3 games but not others. All her games are brand new and no damage is done. They go back into their case when switched.
Thanks again guys, I just am really dumbfounded on this issue. My 60Gb on the other hand works as the day I bought it. So I have no doubts with Playstation 3, just wondering what's the issue with my girlfriends.
