I went Game Crazy yesterday and was about to get a used Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, but the slip cover art for it was a piece of paper with the title written on it. The same thing goes for a lot of used games at my Game Stop. I did find at my local Game Stop that the used cases are extremely scratched up. I mean really ****ed up in that it seems like when they get used games they scratch them up with knives. That kind of pissed me off, although I realize it sounds incredibley nitpicky. It's just that when I buy a game it will be apart of my collection and I'm very OCD about my possessions. Anybody else feel the same way?KurodaMurasaki
Absolutely! Nitpicking or not, I want the games I buy used to be perfect. Sadly enough, today I went to EB Games to buy a used of Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3) and when I opened the cover back home, the Blu-Ray was.....scratched?! I mean damn, what did the guy do to sratch a Blu-Ray? I thought Blu-Rays and cockroaches were the only things a nuclear blast couldn't destroy. Needless to say, tomorrow I'm heading back to the store to switch the game. I didn't even try it to see if it works properly. I just want a "perfect" collection.
And yes, the same goes for the cases and covers.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised some people would think the same way. I really thought that I was going to get really flamed. I also tried ordering from eBay and got two games for really cheap. Both were ordered about a month and a half ago but only one came. The case had a huge crack running through it... Plus the other game was Prince of Persia that did not come yet. It better come soon because I'm dying to play an action adventure other than Blood-engorged shooters.

If you go for the bottom feader listings you will most likely get crappy condition. Dont buy anything that is not "as new" or mint etc. If their listed as average or ok condition AVOID.
All mine have looked as if they just were pulled from the cases but you pay a few more bucks =)
to this day i wonder how people manage to maul games and their cases through the course of ownership. i'm really anal with the condition of the used games i buy, so i always look for the case on the racks in the best condition. i usually ask to see the disc when it comes to ps3 games, but BR discs seem to be pretty difficult to fudge up, save the few fingerprints i've seen.
but i've seen coverarts with water damage, cases with bite marks, torn coverart, ds cartridges bent in certain areas (you can tell cause the grey plastic is whitened from the bending).. it's all so strange to me. maybe it's just cause i'm so ocd with my stuff.

The condition was actually listed as "like new," but either the seller was lying or it was damaged during shipping.

Damn, that sucks! I hope you left the guy a feedback accordingly.
So far for my PS3 I have only bought two games second hand and they were off ebay. I have taken games and traded games at places like Game and they seem to test the games before handing over any money but I don't know how ofton they do to be fair. Funny thing is despite the flack it gets I actually trust people on ebay more simply because they have much more to loose.
Though I do agree with buying new games, there is somethig very satisfying about breaking the plastic seal for the first time and seeing everything crisp that makes paying full price worth it (I sound like such a geek now I know it).
This is the main reason I don't buy hardly anything from GS anymore unless the price is rediculously low.
First time I used their online store I didn't notice that they only sent you the games. No case, no sleeves, no manual. WTF?? who does that?
I had a really good coupon for the store so I tried buying some stuff there. I found a decent case for GOW, but when I got home the manual was missing.
I've had much better luck buying from individuals than game stores.
This is why I don't buy used games,...because it means someone elsed used it...duh:P So if by some strange reason I buy a used game I really don't care what it looks like because I would only expect it to look new if it actually is new.Zidaneskinone of my game/cases from PS2 or PS3 have ever been badly scratched up, so it would make me wonder what people are doing with them to make them like that
