So I've been surfing around on Amazon for a while checking the prices of some games I've been wanting to buy for some time. I'm not usually one to buy things used, but I'm noticing some very nice prices on used games at Amazon from some seller's with great feedback. There's some great games going for under $15.

So my question is: what is your experience with used PS3 games? I know it depends on the seller, but have you had any trouble with scratches/playability? I don't care for manuals, so it doesn't matter to me if they come with those or not.

I'm thinking I may have to have a spending spree on PS3 games here pretty soon....:P

Scratches on bluray discs are uncommon but, if present, are a very bad thing seeing as how it's extremely difficult to scratch them even intentionally. As for used games, a week ago I bought CoD: WaW, Ghostbusters, Tomb Raider: Underworld, and Bayonetta, each for $17 or less. All work great, including WaW which had little fine scratches on it.

If you don't want to support the developers/publishers/anyone that worked help make the game I suggest buying from Ebay, usually there's a lot of information about the quality of the box, disc, and manual.

I buy all my games used from amazon and i sell those same games back used. Ive never had a bad experience buying and ive bought a ton of games. Just make sure you stick with Very Good to Like New games and you shouldn't have a problem. If you do get scammed Amazon will take full responsibility and fix the problem.

Also its very hard to scratch a blu-ray, but they can be scratched.

I would recommend buying all your games used from Amazon, can't go wrong.

Take it from someone who has spent hundreds of dollars on amazon and sold hundreds of dollars on amazon as well.

Yeah, scratched Blu-rays are practically non-existent. Don't worry about it.

If it is an oldschool game for ps3 or xbox or whatev. Yeah I will but if it just came out then no. If I dont care about the game too much and pretty much just buying because I couldnt rent the game I will get it used.

Games I am Hyped for I buy new.

No bad experiences with used games, but it is rare that I even buy one. I prefer to buy new or rent on gamefly because then a portion of the $ goes to the developers. I bought a used 360 game once and it only had a few scratches on it and it froze multiple times until I took it back for a better copy. I wouldnt worry about this happening with PS3 games though as BD's are very very durable.

I buy from resale shops where I can inspect the condition prior to purchase, I don't trust sellers let alone the monkeys who handle it in shipping. I bought a DVD off amazon and when I got it, it had a divit in it like someone swung a golf club... and another time where the merch just never arrived at all. I don't blame anyone but the shippers for that one - Got my money back after a month or two from Amazon no questions but it DID take over a month, I'm sure there are reputable vendors there, but the USPS is another story.

Amazon actually has their own Warehouse deals on games that are in "Like New" condition and come with the case and manual. Not every game has a used version from Amazon, but it will show it on the normal page if it does. I'd rather pay a little more and get it straight from Amazon. Plus it's eligible for free shipping.

its hard to scratch a blu ray disc! (excep using tools which I did just to test it out! LOL (USING AN EMPTY BD ROM mind you!)) as far as manuals go must used games I bought have them (u have to ask the seller to be sure tough) and man have I gotten bargains! Example> Burnout paradise 5 USD, the club 10 USD and Star Wars TFU 8 USD all almost like new!

I've bought some used games before and so far never had a problem. Blu-Ray disc are very hard to damage unlike DVD's or CD's.

Anyone got tech specs on why a Bluray is more resiliant to scratching? I haven't ever heard of it being a different encasing material or anything...

Blu-ray discs go through a special hard-coating process that CDs or DVDs don't go through. According to wiki, anyway. I buy primarily used games but i get them through a local shop (Dimple Records). Never had problems. All my ps3 games (up until last night) were purchased used.

Your taking a risk there. It's hit or miss, however blu ray discs are hard to scratch (they have a coating) so it's not exactly a high chance that it'll be damaged. If I were you, I would buy recently released games used and older games new.

I just got a few used games off of ebay this week and have bought used from gamestop many times. I haven't had any problems with them and sometimes will look for a used game rather than get it new.

Around half of my library is used PS3 games and as long as they are not scratched to non-recognition (which I have yet to see, blu-rays disks are top level resistant) there is nothing to worry about.

I usually buy used to save money unless it's a game I really want on release day. You have nothing to worry about when it comes to blu-ray disk quality. ;)

BArgain. Blu-ray has a protective coat making damage very rare, much less common than damaging a DVD or CD. Plus, you can return faulty products for a refund.
