Hey,

I just got my PS3 yesterday, ALLRIGHT!!.......anyway, I bought a 16'' x 24'' microfiber cloth for a cover/dusting cloth. I only cover it once it is off. Is this bad? Will it hold any heat in that should be releases after the console is off? I am assuming that's a no because once off, the fans stop so there is no air current that would be blocked. Also, if it is fine to cover it, which I think it is, can it be safely covered while the PS3 is "off" but the standby switch is still on?

-Thanks

I am pretty sure covering the top of your PS3 with a soft cloth will be ok.Just make sure the vents have plenty of room to breath.

Thanks for the replies. The cover I use covers the whole thing, vents and all. That being said, when I cover it, the console is off.

-Thanks

I find buying the Swiffer 360 duster works WONDERS for keeping your shiny new PS3 dust free. they are cheap and REALLY get the dust off. You only have to do it everyo ther day depending on how dusty your house gets.

There's no problem with that. Of course you can cover it when it's switched off. Otherwise you wouldn't even be able to put it in a box. The "let it breathe" comments are funny though. Don't worry.

I do the same thing, protects the console from unnecessary dust buildup, your PS3 will be fine man and it'll stay shiny and dust/scratch free.

Don't worry about it. Id maybe give it a minute or two after its stopped operating before throwing the cover on, but its not a big deal. The cloth wont stop its heat dissipation.

I'd give your console at least half an hour after switching off b4 covering-just to let cool properly.
