UT3 to have cross-platform play between PS3/PC

YESSS!!!!!!, It is confirmed according to gamespot that UT3 will support cross-platfrom play between the PS3 and PC, and the Playstation 3 version will also have Keyboard and mouse support. Go read the article now under the news section on the main page if you havent already. here is a quote from it.

Unreal Tournament 3 is coming out this year for the PC and PS3 only. It will allow cross-platform play between the two platforms, which will be greatly enhanced by the inclusion of keyboard/mouse support. Said support will also offer gamers the alternative of buying a $599 console or upgrading their PC without having to sacrifice traditional shooter controls.

I am so excited now, I was waiting to see if it would have cross platform play because if it didnt I was gonna have to get the 360 version when it comes out because it would have a bigger install base, but now it dont matter because with the PC and PS3 install base, there will be alot more gamers on UT3 for the PS3/PC then on the 360 version.

Who else is thinks this is great news?

Wow thats sweet. I was looking forward to playing UT3 on my ps3 with keyboard and mouse.
Now i can play with pc gamers from my ps3.

Im afraid I might have some sad news now, I was reading the official UT3 boards and Mark Rein posted at 4pm est.that cross-plaform has not yet been announced so just talk about the KB/Mouse support for now, but in the story on gamespot it says UT3 will have Cross-platform between PC and PS3, but... the story was posted by gamespot at almost 7PM est.

So... There is a chance they could of called up Mark Rein or something and he couldof told them there is or who know, but I read through the boards and saw nothing from Mark on updating info about cross-platform. But he is posting and commenting on peoples post, So im currently trying to find out right now as I type this, hopefully he responds to my post.

i hope that this is just a problem of Epic not wanting to release this info too soon. having PC vs. PS3 would be awesome.

although the only problem would be that the SIXAXIS went from being gimped (i believe the KB+M support was announced before) to being completely useless (veteran UT players will literally dance around in circles and laugh while they frag anyone using a controller).

i think 360 vs. PC for UT3 is extremely unlikely solely because MS wants all games that do cross-platform play to be part of the Games For Windows campaign, which Epic has been vocally against.

The ps3 is $499 ! ZOMG !

Its funny how everyone acts like using a controller is such a bad thing. Last year I started playing all my PC shooters with a 360 controller and im stilling pwning the hell out of everyone. I think of it as two different types of skills, it just depends on how well you develope one or the other.treelog187

Regardin X360 (since someone asked), I remember seeing an interview with someone from Epic (possibly Mark Rein) stating that currently to get mods/maps/addons or any additional material on Xbox Live they (developers) would have to send the mods to Microsoft and MS would need to approve it before being setting it up on XLive. In that case they (Epic) would try to get up the most popular mods. So if they don't work out a solution X360 players will need to wait for the mods and they will have a limited selection. Regarding fee's I dont know, from a business perspective it wouldn't be smart to angry the consumers with small fees but MS love to take fees for small stuff.

Though I'm wondering, if you have bluetooth on the PC would it be possible to use a Controller to play on the PC. I'm asking in general and not only UT3.

I believe it has already been confirmed no cross platform or mods for 360..i read it on IGN before i believe

Makes me wonder if kb/m support will start to become standard with other games on consoles as well.

Not like it matters to me though because I suck with a mouse. I'm far better with a controller.

Ok guys, I got an update from the UT3 official forums and according to Flak, Epic communtiy manager, Cross-Platform Has not yet been decided.

Im not really sure how invoved he is or if he even checked my link out to check out the GS news story, but as you can see, he says it is undecided, so right now Im very confused, but if I have to guess, imma guess it will because Mark Rein himself in an interview said that they will seeif the community wantsCross-platform play for PCPS3, and Everyone is either for it or dontreally care either way, so...ifthey go by his statement, then they will have it in the game.

Damn, I guess we will just have to sit back and wait, because I might really just get the 360 version if the PS3 version dont have cross-platform play.
