The Valhalla Series looks interesting. I've read VERY mixed reviews from 'very good' to utterly horrbile. I might buy it. But i want to know if anyone has played the series before or even Battlestance. Any help would be apprectiated (BTW, i posted this on the recommdation thread, no one really posted back, so don't give me link saying to go post it there.)

Maybe just be patient for a response? Anyway the series is pretty terrible. If you like mindless grinding like say Monster Hunter than you'll probably have some fun with it.

But it's pretty bland and boring, and if someone needs a good story to tie events together, I wouldn't recommend it.

Aw, come on now! Monster Hunter is a good game because you need skill to play (Don't have to obtain any upgrades, unless doing end-game stuff IF you know how to play this game)and the grind isn't so bad when it is challange to kill your prey. Besides: everything is optional, you just do 3-4 quests to advance to Higher ranks and hunt tougher monsters. It's a great fun to play with Friends/Infrastructure. Not only that, they will release MH3P this fall Internationally, which will have many improvements and just about every weapon known in Monster Hunter francise so far.

That aside, Valhalla Knights games are horrible games. The first game wasn't good at all, but playable. The second game and the Battlestance, good lord! They took the Gameplay and made it worse, everything that they tried to improve... It got worse. Heck, I am surprised how anyone made far in that game. It's not even as much as "the grind" as rather: The broken Gameplay combines with horrible visuals and bad customisation of anything really. Doesn't help that all the status bonuses and such make no sense unless you read the manual, which hardly even tells you anything anyway. Anywho: Game is bad.

Well that's depressing. I orderd D&D tactics, but i want another good game with good character customization. I have Dungeon Siege ToA, but the frame rate in that game is horrid. My game freezes literally every like 20 minutes if i try to cast spells and throw arrows at a monster. I like the game, but it's not working out. I don't know if the Untold Legends series is any better, i've played the one for ps3 and that sucked. But i was hoping someone would have something good to say about VK. It looks good on paper, but i guess not

I was under same impression. The game fools you with the idea of "Lots of Items, Classes, and Races." See here though, Most classes are obtainable through grinding, most items are forced through either grinding or shop bought (Based on how far you made it into the game.) In reality, the game is bad.

Gameplay is poorly done with bad Key-mapping that could be changed, horrible battle-phase flow over-all. The graphics vary from ok to horrible even by PSP standards. The game feels very generic in both the story and the flow of the game itself. Mazes are annoying and alot of back-and-forth forced running. Many Gameplay and Running around issues were fixed in Battle-Stance, but most Problems have not changed at-all. People complain how you have to grind to much in this game, though I would disagree. The AI can be manipulated with enough skill, though is much harder compared to VK1. While there are more Races, most character visuals will look quite Ugly. I don't mean ugly in "HURR BAD GRAPHICS" way, but literally Ugly as sin. In the end, the game will be like this: You will have Four Characters dressed in similar clothing and arments based on the area of the game you're in. However, The Arments and Clothing will take many mazes to navigate through for them to change. Another thing that irked me though was: Sneaking got nerfed. In VK1: Sneaking was slow, but was an effective way to get past enemies unnoticed. In VK2: Sneaking is so slow that it's quite useless and the enemy is more likely to find you due to that fact, despite the really low detection range.

I see...So did you find an altertnative to this game? With the good solid customizable RPG? I mean the ida of VK sounds good with all this stuff, hopefulld DD Tactics can help me out. But do you got any suggestions?

Can't think of anything at the moment. As much as I love customizable RPGs, the genre is certainly lacking. What games do you like anyway?

Personally: I like Sengoku Rance, but it's an SLG. You might like it, if you don't mind the sex. Ofcourse, the sex and violence were toned down compared to previous Rance titles. Damn good game, and great long fun.

Never heard of the series. Is it in NA? I just got a PSP about 2 months ago. I've been playing Dissidia and Crimson Gem Saga. I love Dissidia, but Crimson Gem seemed kinda bland. I enjoy old school turn-based games. I was looking at hexyz force, but i dunno. I also have Disagaea 2, but that game seems kinda odd. Just battle, then go back to town, battle and go back to town. I enjoy dungeon crawlers. Like i said Dungeon Seige is fun, but the frame rate is a killer. But i'm looking for that ONE RPG that will just keep my playing for like summer and not wanna put it down.

Sengoku Rance is by AliceSoft, PC only. Sorry about that. Well, Disgaea 2 is suppose to be an addictive Grind: You love it or you leave it.I am not really sure in your case. Kenka Bancho (Free-Roam Fighting)was a good game, but won't last Summer if played alot. Maybe you should just buy a PSX game from PSN. Unless you want a game like Disgaea 2, I don't think any old school Turn-Based Game will keep you playing for about a month. FFT and Hexyz force are good, but you'd probably beat them ina week or two.Ican't really reccomend anything that would last a long time, and Suikoden 2 still isn't releasedfor PSN. Do you like Star Ocean games, they are not turn based: but they are really nice. If you got friends or time to modify your psp, Monster Hunter is a great game to play with others. Truthfully, DS has a better selection of Turn-Based RPGs.

Ah, I know! I don't know if it'll last the summer, but try Valkyrie Profile for the PSP. Maybe you'll like that one.

Star Ocean 1 and 2 =/= Star Ocean 3 and 4. Completely different games.

You should try it and see if you like Star Ocean 2. Go shead and Emulate and Pirate the PSX version, and if you like it: Buy it.

Valkyrie Profile, just watch some video on youtube. It's hard to describe this game.

Do both games have good customization and rewarding game play- i.e. like lvling up = more skills/spells/actions?

I can't really explain well, youtube guide or gamefaqs over-view guide might be nice.
