Im still not far but the game is already really challenging, I can just imagine how much worse it'll become later on. Anything a noob like me should know so that i don't end up tearing my hair out at the later levels?

At what level you are? I was in chapter 7 and it was pretty difficult for me. Big boss killed alot of my troops, had to use Welkin for defend my troops from Big Boss. But yeah, I have heard the next levels are more difficult than that.

Use orders to buff your party, especially late in the game. When used well, orders can make your team pretty powerful/capable of doing things you wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

It gets harder. If you're not a big strategy gamer it might give you a bit of trouble. Nothing too hard though, and the game is so good you'll keep playing until you beat it.

the difficulty ramps up to chapter 7 then gets kinda patchy. none of them are terribly difficult once you have a good idea of what will come at you over the course of the level. a big trick for some of the tougher ones late in the game is to note where and when reinforcements spawn and place your units accordingly.

to help ppl out... a little spoiler-free tips from me... chapter 5: there's a little path that goes around the south to the right behind the enemy camp. if you dont mind getting C or lower ranks, i suggest that your northern guys take out what they are suppose to take out, then have about one or two shocktroopers, at least one scout, and at least one lancer to go down that hidden southern path (blocked with tank baricades, and later with a fallen tree, take the tree with scout's grenade) and well, you have lancer there, and you will know what happens and after that is pretty straightforward chapter 7: ur best friend is the tank. park it right in front of the The Boss (Not the Big Boss... you will know when you get to that part) chapter 8: grenade that Immortal, go around the rock to behind. use the other scout to do the same while trying not get hit. do this several times. (dont expect getting a high rank for the first run... unless you have ur scouts till level 11) after chapter 11: smoke grenades are very useful. chapter 15: sniper combo, or tank+Alicia+smoke grenade+neutralize order to take the boss down. chapter 17: ... good luck. chapter 18: first level, piece of cake. three lancers and you can beat it easily. second level, snipe the far one, use two shocktroopers to take out the other two of the ones you have to take out, send in Rosie and (hopefully u have Lynn by that time) Lynn, pour it on the boss from behind. then pick lynn again, and just go again and finish him off (hardworking potential makes it a lot easier) after ur squad reaches level 11: scouts = invincible. if you think everything is going to fail, stack up "caution", "demolition boost", and possibly "awaken" order and do a scout charge. not recommended if you want to enjoy the game with its strategical depth. if you are feeling too hard, just keep this in mind: with orders you can pretty much blow up a tank with a rifle. but it destroys the fun. so it should always be ur last resort. SAVE JANN EVERY SINGLE TIME HE FALLS. Use Karl at least 5 times, team kill him, revive him, and voila you get a new shocktrooper, and she's your best. hope it helped

Haha. I was expecting to see Yokofox to come in saying that first.

I'm here! Save Jann whatever it costs! Although his death scene is pretty funny...

Anyway, the game is not that hard. It's definitely challenging, but if you take the time to level in the skirmishes and get a basic strategy down you should be fine most of the time.

There are only two missions that are truly hard (the third to last one can be too depending on how you tackle it) - chapter 7 and the one...well, I forget what chapter it's in and anything I'd use to describe it would be horrible, horrible spoilers. They're almost unfairly difficult compared to everything else, which are doable with pretty much any strategy you want.

If you use _ _ _ _ _ (s) the game becomes sadly easy :(
