Hello, I recently bought the game Little Big Planet and when I play it I see lots of very thin lines running vertically through the screen. It doesn't happen in my other game ( Metal Gear Solid 4 ) nor in any demo I've tried ( also a weird thing I discovered: they don't appear in The Pod or the pause menu. ) They are especially noticable while running and almost invisible while standing still. At first I tried to ignore them but as you all know you can't ignore something forever. :/ Does anybody have similiar problems or am I the only one?

Info that might be useful: I have a 27" LCD TV and I run in 720p. I doubt the PS3 or the TV is broken. Both are roughly one week old.

TV image settings:

Brightness 45

Contrast 50

Colour: 55

Sharpness: 5

Coloursetting: Normal

Grainreducing: Medium

Backgroundbrightness: 65

Widescreen

I doubt the PS3 is broken. It only happens in Little Big Planet and if the GPU was defective... Wouldn't that mean that I'd suffer from terrible lag as well?

Adding one thing: I've had a defective PC GPU once, and the lines look nothing like that.

Don't know anyone RL with a PS3 unfortunately. Btw, I got a picture of how it looks: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/Xenokai/problem.jpg

(Not my picture, I found it on the net but that's how it looks for me.)

I found something intresting but I don't understand shiet of their TV language: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317424

I think that might be it. I could try getting a new "Power Surge".

Yeah I'm using HDMI. I don't know what a 3 to 2 prong adapter is. I cannot provide detailed information of the tv right now, but I will be able to in short. ( Need to find the box it was bought in. ) All I know is that "nox" is written on it

I too am having the same problem. When I play Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Infamous on the family room hdtv, I see these vertical lines. When ever i runor walk in the game the lines appears. Instead of small vertical lines, I see big vertical bars down the screen.I keep my ps3 in my room but at times bring it to the hdtv. The tv in my room is SD and dont have this issue. The specs of the HDTV are Samsung 1080p 56 inch dlp. I use hdmi input when i play games on it. I do not beleive it is the tv because this issue only happens while playing games not watching tv.

try putting the tv in full pixel(aka 1:1 pixel or no scaling)mode in the tv setup menus.it may not be a true 1280x720 panel tv and the lines may be created by the scaler in tv

Wouldn't that cause lines in all my games and not only LBP? Btw, found a similiar thread at gamepsot: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/littlebigplanet/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-47218782&pid=938583

i think i remember reading the ps3 can render a different resolution internally then scale that to the proper output(not the same as just upscaling, but for different frame rates and rendering techniques).maybe that patch changed something to do with that.

Didn't work. Btw, how come I can play in 1080p and 1080i when I got a 720p monitor? Is the image quality worse if I play in 1080?

Your tv upscales,or resize the picture to fit your screen,1080i can show up to 30 frames per second(60 interlaced, but above 30fps it splits each frame into half the image data and splices them together),and 1080p/720p is 60 frames per second(non-interlaced).1080 is 1920x1080 and 720p is 1280x720,so if your display only actually displays 1280x720(or equivalent,as alot of tvs actually have a slightly different resolution like 1366x768 and scale the image from 720p to the native res)it will just resize, and the result can be a bit 'jaggy' like a screendoor effect.

i wouldnt worry about it if it is only in lbp.only other i would try is maybe setting the ps3 to rgb full(instead of limited) in the video settings if you havent, see if it looks better.

Alright, I don't really see a difference between 1080p and 720p but as the store guy told me to play in 720p that's what I'll do. And yeah, you're right. I can live with it. When you're playing and having fun it's really hard to notice anyway.

yeah if your tv has a full pixel/1:1 pixel mode any extra jaggies may go away as well(although the screen may be a little bit smaller).I got my wii on a wall projector and i dont mind them
