Very annoying error 80710736

Need some help regarding this error, whenever I try to download any game update I get error 80710736 , sometimes after 5% sometimes after 15%, even at 90%. I have to keep trying multiple times, sometimes 2 or 3 days. I usually get it working right late night. So, I don't where the issue really is, is with connection? My ISP ? or PSN ?

I'm connecting through wired network and I have NAT2, no problem playing online, just these freakin updates,

sounds to me like it's timing out, but if that's the case, should't a lot of people be complaining about it? I googled this error didn't find much useful info

any suggestions??

Make your life easier, download updates on you computer, put em on the flash drive, hook it up to the PS3 and there you have you updated PS3! simple as cake...

Yes, I do that for Firmware updates, but how about game updates? Recently I tried to update SoulCalibur and before that Warhawk, Faced the same problem the whole evening, then after midnight , around 1 am it downloaded ok.

And Yes,I turned off media server, I'm buying a new ADSL modem today, I'm using DLINK now and I heard it's not very good, but I doubt that will help.

I got a new linksys modem ,hooked up my ps3 directly to it, got NAT 1, but guess what? Still getting that error , was trying to download Battlefield BC update (97 mb) but getting error at 3% or 4% . I'm starting to think it might be my ISP, in that case I'm screwed, since it's the sole ISP here. Why can't they make these updates downloadable off the web on pc?

Since you have tried without the router even in the loop I doubt this will help. But, always makesure you have the latest firmware installed on your router. Farcry 2 was unplayable online until I updated my router.

I have tried absolutey everything to fix this. I have read every forum there was to read and tried every suggestion that was posted and I still cannot play COD: World at War online. I am able to access the PS store and I am able to log in. Every time I try to access online play on COD it gives me error 80710736 and says that I have been disconnected from the access point.

I am using a wireless d-link 614 router one room away, i tried plugging it in directly to the motem and when I did that it wouldn't even sign me in. I have tried all of the port forwarding suggestions, changed settings, changed them back, started, restarted and nearly threw the ting out the window. Still doesn't work.

I tried calling Sony and they said it could be my ISP. It isn't. All of the three computers in my house work great on the wifi, as well as the two blackberry's we have in the house. The PS3 is the only thing having problems, and it is only having problems when I try to play online. Like I said, my PS3 is able to connect to the internet, just not for gameplay.

This is clearly a known issue as I have read dozens of articles and forums about it. Can anyone out there give me a hand!!! Thanks!

Hi, I know this post is old but I think I found the solution:

On the XMB, you need to go over to the friends space, take your avatar and press triangle. Then click profile and it will update the trophys. After you downloaded that update the patch download should work. If you need multiple patches you will have to repeat this for every patch.

Its def the router that's causing the problem...i have the same router as 6037 and i have the same problem....i can log onto my id...i can get into the psn store, but if i try playing Call Of Duty WAW..i get that error and it logs me out

Real quick: What's the difference between a NAT 1 and NAT 2 connection? It's bugging the hell out of me not knowing especially since I've always had a NAT 2 but I read somewhere that NAT 1 is "better?"Kravyn81

NAT 1 is best when there is nothing between your console and your main source of internet connection, basically, a cable hooked up directly from your modem to your ps3.

NAT 2 is best when you have a router or any types of firewalls, this will allow all PSN related data to bypass restrictions such as blocked ports the router may have set in place.

So basically, if you've got a ethernet cable running from your PS3 to your modem, NAT 1 is best. If you've got a router, wired or wireless, NAT 2 is best.
