i posted earlier in the week about psn having a fee and got some great answers and feedback

well im going getting a playstation tomoz to place at the side of my xbox :)

my question is, iv been doing alot of research on which to get as the ps3 has alot of differant editions of the console 40 60 80 120 250 320 gig lol

and also some have the backward compatability

which would be reccomended i would like to play ps1 games on my new playstation so one that does that will be good also the slims pre owned or new are around 40% dearer than the '' fat ' playstation i know for a fact i wont use 40 gig as i have a 20 gig xbox for 3 years and stil have 5 gig left.

are the slims alot more reliable than the fat ps3s ? and do they all allow ps1 play games? and wil i use the space like i did on the xbox? or do games demmand more space ? does it require the space to play blu rays or something ?

i didnt get any fan boy posts last time and would appriciate the same again please thanks in advance for the advice

well if you want to play PS1 games that you own the 60GB is the only one that can play them along with the PS2 games

about the performance i don't know how much different between them but i know that the Sim uses less power

i have i 60GB fat and it works fine and if you ever needed more space you can replace the HDD with a one that has more space

I think you can play PS1 games on all versions of PS3. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Just buy the cheapest PS3 you find, if the space runs out, buy a new HD. Do not confuse the HDD space of the PS3 with the x360, the PS3 tends to have bigger installs, sometimes several Gigs, that are necessairy

every PS3 plays PS1 games. As for PS2 games the 60 gig and early 80 gig models can play them(80 gig may not play all PS2 games). Personally I would not buy a used PS3 and I do beleive that the slims are more reliable, but I have had the 80 gig since the 80 gigs came out and have had no problems with it (knock on wood). As far as space on the lower gig models i still have 40 gig left on my 80 gig but I dont but a game every month like alot of people do, I only get like 3 or 4 games a year and have about 10 PSN games on the HDD right now. The new 320 gig bundle comes with the Move and Sports Champions.

As far as I know if the box says it only has 2 USB ports on the back (in the features box) it's not backwards compatible for PS2 games.

I'd recommend the New 120gb Slim. I doubt you'll ever need more then that and I've been using this Model since it came out and I havin't had any problems. They are much more reliable and cannot YLOD.

This is news to me too. I must get up in the attic/loft and see what PS1 classics i have resting up there.

if you get a used one, get a used slim, they have a better chance of lasting longer. if you get a new one, get a new slim, they dont make 120gb anymore, they make 160gb for the same price which is $300. and you can play ps1 games on ANY ps3, but you cant play ps2 games on any ps3 only the backwards compatable ones.

the reason you should get a slim is because they are quiter and newer, my friend had his 40 gb die on him after 3 years, and my 40 gb almost died on me so i sold it and got the slim.
