Just curious, I have a Sony KP-57WS500 TV that only supports up to 1080i (and no HDMI inputs). I am currently running my PS3 through a standard sony component cable, and it looks very good.

I am wondering if I could get better quality video through a different cable like this oneby Nyco, it looks to be an HDMI-out / converting to a Component-In, although despite my searching I can't find anything besides the picture there that actually says HDMI (just "HD-Link").

Thoughts? I just want the best picture possible with my hardware.(I know I just need a new TV, but this one will have to do for the time being:cry: )

Thanks :)

Well just curious..If your tv goes to 1080i does it have a dvi input? It looks like this the one with the green circled if you do(CLICK FOR LARGER), then you can get a to DVI connecting wire. Thats what i have and my picture looks great 1080i. If not you can still get those component cables

Yes actually, it does... but I am using the DVI-In for my Media Center PC :( Would it look better as DVI then Component?

It appears the two cords you mentioned above are essentially the same cord.... they exit the HDMI out on your PS3 and convert to component to go into your television. With that said, component is an analog signal, while DVI is digital. A digital signal is going to provide a cleaner picture with no image degradation from your PS3 to you TV. If it is possible, I would get an HDMI cable and then an extra HDMI to DVI converter, that way you will be getting the most out of your PS3 in terms of image quality with a pure digital signal.

Good point about the HDMI-DVI converter, I will look into that. About the cables though, the standard sony one I have currently does not go out HDMI, instead it goes out of the "AV-Multi-Out" port on the back of the PS3... My HDMI port is just a dust collector right now.

There is an HDMI port on the back of the ps3, its the one that kinda rectangular but a bit wider on the top than bottom. That will run out of your ps3, and then towards your TV's end, you'll need a HDMI to DVI adaptor. That end goes into your TV. As for HDMI cables, don't pay more than $25 bucks. You can find some cheap but good ones at www.monoprice.comfor like $10. I bought mine at the Apple store,2 meter long (6. something feet) and gold inputs for about $20. Not sure how much HDMI to DVI adaptors cost, but I saw one at radioshack yesterday for $29.99 and I'm sure you could find a better deal elsewhere.
